The store has a good selection of organic and vegetarian options. The folks that run the place truly are among the best in the West. Deli style sandwiches are available during select hours, salads too. You can even sit outside and enjoy the incredible view of the desert while you eat. Some Saturday mornings there is a farmers market featuring local artisans. Don’t miss this spot to fill your belly and your camp cooler when passing through Salome."

"Mel's Market Is a breath a fresh air for Salome. It all starts when you walk in and get greeted with a smile. This is an excellent grocery store with so many wonderful items to choose from. Mel's has very fair pricing considering Salome is well over an hour from the nearest big city. I was amazed at the wide verity of items in this store. If you like a Rubin sandwiches, then this is the place for you as they also have a deli were they will make you a fresh sandwich. When you add in the propane filling service, it makes Mel's Market my one stop shop in Salome."
