"If you like rocks and/or are looking for a good clean family hobby, this shop is a must-visit! The shop itself had interesting minerals and gems you can purchase, but, more importantly, you can also enroll in the rockhounding club. The club opens up access to private mineral claims in Idaho, as well as organized field trips where club members can be guided to a claim for a specific mineral that day. The owner, Craig, is very kind and helpful. He takes great pains to maintain the claims and share his knowledge with members. I learned how to shape cabochons from raw stone from Craig, which is a other club perk. The membership fees are very reasonable, and the rockhound community is wonderful."
"Recently joined the Idaho Rockhounding club through Idaho Rock & Gems shop. Hounded some jasper at one of their private claims - locations available to all members - and then took a class in how to turn a lump of rock into a cabochon. Craig is knowledgeable, approachable and kind, a great source of information and a fantastic teacher."

They have tons of beautiful materials , inexpensive club memberships and most importantly the best staff to work with they make u feel like family as soon as u walk in the door.
