"I am truly blown away by the care I received by Dr. LaSalle. I have had many doctors in the past and I always have felt extremely rushed and ignored when bringing up my complaints. Dr. LaSalle gave me more attention than any physician I have ever seen and she addressed all of my concerns with thought and compassion. Even as she was taking notes on the computer she was making eye contact with me. This appointment was for establishing care and Dr. LaSalle informed me that since I had never had a pap smear that we should consider doing that along with the standard pelvic exam. Mind you, I had been avoiding a pap smear for 7 years because of my sheer terror, but I felt so comfortable with Dr. LaSalle that I decided to be brave. When I tell you that she incredible, I sincerely mean it. I did not give her an easy time. My body was involuntarily fighting as hard as it could through the exam and she was constantly reassuring and calm and made sure I knew that I was in control at all times. She was always stopping to ask if I was okay and if I was able to continue and gave me alternatives to have her assistant come and hold my hand or to come back another time with the help of some medication if it would make it easier for me. I ended up getting through it, but I can assure you that it would not have been possible with a lesser physician. I was a bit teary eyed by the time things were over and she assured me that I didn't need to apologize and that I did well. She even recognized, in an extremely respectful way, that I had experienced sexual trauma and, again, assured me that I did a great job. The last physician I had took away my birth control when I told her about my fear of getting a pap smear due to the trauma, so having a physician who wasn't even told about it treating me so kindly was unbelievably heart warming. I just want everyone to know that Dr. Gretchen LaSalle is a kind and caring physician AND human being in general and I am beyond grateful to be in her care."
