"COULD THEY REALLY BE THIS BAD? IN SUMMARY- 1. I don't recall asking them to do this update to our trust but, even if I did, why was it many months before they got around to it? 2. Don't call me to status after a few weeks and charge me for the call when it took you months to provide the draft (that I didn't even recall asking for). 3. If you are a professional charging $350/hour, don't send me documents with obvious typos then charge me to fix it. 4. Don't charge me to make a change you clearly missed and should have already easily incorporated. Many, many months ago I contacted Gravis Law with a question about modifying our Trust that they had updated for us after we moved to Idaho. They said that we could write the modification ourselves and get it witnessed so that is what we did. Months later in September 2023, out of the blue, I get an email with a draft update for review & signature. I had absolutely no recollection of requesting this so I called and asked. I was told, yes, my previous contact had been many months earlier. I told Gravis that I would review it even though we had already made the update ourselves. We later received a bill from Gravis for the draft update. I was very busy and wasn't able to review their draft so Gravis called to check in with us. Guess what... They charged us for that call too. We also didn't pay their bill promptly and were charged a $2.00 late fee! We decided we would review their draft and add another change. I converted their PDF to a WORD document which easily revealed several typographical errors and a bad reference. These typos were obvious and unacceptable for an organization charging $350 / hour. I corrected their typos and added our change using "Track Changes" so they could easily see them. We made an appointment to go in and sign the documents. After arriving on time, we had to wait in the conference room 10 - 15 minutes after our scheduled time. When they showed us the update, I found they had not made the change I clearly requested in writing. We had to wait additional time for them to go implement the change and return with a new document. Their attitude was disappointing, with no apology. We've now got the (hopefully) final bill showing the following charges: 1. Receiving & replying to our email and making the requested changes. (OK) 2. Scheduling our appointment. (REALLY??) 3. Conferring with P. Gaffney re: docs for signing appointment... printing documents on the day of our appointment. 4. Final revisions to the documents & signing. (This was another $210 inflated due to their own mistake) 5. Notarizing, scanning, saving and sending the documents. This was a very simple update and should have been accomplished in a reasonable time at a reasonable cost without the errors that I found. I would call or write them to discuss this but I don't want to be charged for that above what they've already billed. This was a 100% disappointing experience."

"Our family began looking for services related to Wills and Trusts in June of 2023 and found Gravis Law. -We paid $200 for a consultation with Karen Silva on 7/21/2023. During this consultation, she recommended Penelope Gaffney for what we needed. -Paid another $200 to meet with Penelope Gaffney (total is now $400 in). Signed to engage Penelope's services on 9/6/2023. -9/27/2023- We had not heard anything, so we emailed Penelope for a status update. Penelope responded that she was out of office for the week and would give me a detailed response the next week (Week of October 2nd-6th, 2023) -10/6/2023- I had not heard or received any communication and so I emailed for a status after 5:00pm expecting a reply the next week. -10/18/2023- Had not received a response or status update to my email on 10/6/2023, so I emailed on 10/18/2023 requesting some sort of update, communication, smoke signal, a sign of life.... Penelope replied that afternoon that she did have all documents she needed, but had no update. The detailed response promised from 10/6/2023 must have evaporated. -10/27/2023- Emailed again for some sort of update as we still had not heard anything at all (more than 20 days after my last contact with this office...). Penelope replied that there would be a document ready for my review on or before next Friday (11/3/2023). -11/3/2023- After not receiving any documents or communication or updates, I emailed after 5:30PM that we would like to terminate our services and requested our documents back. As of 1/4/2024, I have not even received our documents back or a reply to that email. Lol. If you have read all of this, you have wasted about 1/3 of the time I have wasted, but also saved yourself $400. Lesson is learned that you do not pay for consultations. I have met with several other attorneys in the valley and found a great match without having to pay an up front fee. Just shop around."
