"Since being diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in 9/2022 the journey has been difficult, it is progressive, aggressive, and in my case will not have a happy ending. Throughout it all my oncology team - Dr. Dan Zuckerman, PA Dustin Bowman, NP Kimbra Cardwell, Nicole Thurston PhD. and the retinue of guardian angels in the infusion center have worked tirelessly on my behalf. Dr Dan is a warrior, tackling this cancer with all resources available. My PA and NP are always well informed and able to discuss my current status updates and give thorough explanations when I see them. Nicole Thurston addresses the mental and emotional needs that are part and parcel of this disease; helping ease my anxiety and offer coping tools. Liz is the team chaplain and her spiritual support has also helped so much. As to the Infusion Center nurses, I can’t say enough about their skill, compassion, care and connection. Should I have a moment of discomfort they are right there taking care of it. The CNAs are equally wonderful, always seeing to my comfort (can’t have too many warm blankets!) One cannot spend as much time with these people as I have without becoming genuining attached to them and I am so grateful for them. From front reception to lab services, MAs and back room appointment nurses, I have been treated with nothing but the highest level of care, concern, respect, and dignity. I am commited to fighting this cancer with everything I’ve got until the end. My St. Luke’s team is committed to fighting along side me until all medical intervention options have been exhausted. There may be bigger cancer institutes outside of Idaho, but I doubt they are more dedicated nor have bigger hearts than St. Luke’s Cancer Institute in Boise.
