"Dr Hechtman was so sweet and helpful durning my entire pregnancy. She took care of me and made sure I felt safe and cared for durning my labor. Her bed side manor and care are outstanding. I won’t ever go to a different obgyn."
"This is going to be a long one... She was my doctor for my first 2 pregnancies. My son(my first) was an emergency c-section. Hechtman knew I wanted a vaginal delivery, and if I HAD to have a surgical delivery, I wanted a low transverse incision to be a good candidate for VBAC. So when I found out I was pregnant for a second time I went back to her. During the second pregnancy I rarely saw her, it was a ARNP, or was just rescheduled, because "she was in surgery" quite often(should've seen the red flag). At around 4.5-5 months, around the time we did the anatomy scan, she started talking about a repeat c-section. I would remind her I had ZERO intentions of being cut open again. At that point she started saying I needed to do non stress test regularly, and she kept talking about surgery. I would ask WHY she was even bringing it up, and her reaponse was always baby is measuring small. I would ask if she had Intrauterine growth restriction, and she would just say she's small. When I asked the ARNP that I actually saw more than my doctor why she would keep pushing the surgery when I feel like nothing is wrong with my baby, she said well if your doctor thinks this is what's going on you just need to listen to her. I couldn't get a second opinion from anyone on the office, "if my doctor says that's what's going on it's what's going on." I was forced into a surgery that in my opinion caused my daughter to aspirate fluid and ended up going to the NICU. When I asked to push my c-section date one week out, to hopefully go into labor on my own, the response I got was, "nope, can't do that day. I'll be on vacation..." I was regularly invalidated by staff in this office, and felt like no one listened to me and my wishes for my birthing experience. And even when I expressed fear and not wanting to have the surgery the day of, I was told it's a "routine surgery"(which it is NOT!) and that I would have my baby in my arms in about 15 mintues and everything would be fine. Which was not true, as I stated above, my daughter aspirated amniotic fluid. And then after surgery I didn't see my doctor again. She didn't come check on me, she couldn't be bothered to see me apparently. I was left with severe PPD, and having to work through healing from the birth trauma experience, which I feel is only finally becoming easier to deal with almost 7 years later(hence the review finally). I would NEVER recommend ANYONE to this office, for any of their providers. Find a Midwife or more holistically orientated doctor, who listens and trusts that YOU know your body best."
"I had a horrible experience with her and her awful office staff! I had to schedule my appointment an entire month in advance. It was at 2pm and I arrived on time with paperwork done and was told Dr. Hechtman had left ten minutes earlier. I was confused why the doctor would leave when I had an appointment and was told by the lady at the front desk that I should have come early. I was given no notice in advance that the doctor was leaving and they were completely rude and unaccommodating. I was told I needed to wait another four weeks to make an appointment. I was treated with complete disregard and disrespect. Worst customer service I’ve ever had and a doctor who is willing to walk out and leave her patients hanging! Will never recommend her!"
"Jody Hechtman is a phenomenal doctor. After moving from the South Hill to the Valley, we ALMOST switched offices to find someone closer to home. I'm so glad we didn't. I developed preeclampsia about 28/30 weeks into my pregnancy. Jody took such great care of me & made a very tough decision to induce me early (& WHEN to induce - 37 weeks) ensuring the safety and well-being of both my son AND I. I couldn't have imagined a more relaxing pregnancy than I had, especially given the circumstances. "
"Dr. Hechtman has delivered both my sons in the past 2 1/2 years and both were high risk due to my wife's Type 1 Diabetes and my first sons diagnosis of Down Syndrome. Dr. Hechtman is the most well spoken, courteous and caring doctor I've come across. She took us on knowing the complexity of our situation and never batted an eye. Both my kids are here and safe because of her ability to handle ambiguity and the unknowns involved. I would recommend no one else if you want the best care available. She'll always be honest, open and real with you. That may rub some people the wrong way who are looking for a glazed sugar coating to mask serious issues, but if you want to get to the root of a problem and get the best options/explanations out there. She's your doctor."
