Garden City Steakhouse

"On 2/11 I reserved a table for 2/14. When I arrived, I was told they didn't have my reservation & was asked when I called to make the reservation. I told them employee that I booked it online through Google to which the employee responded that they didn't take online reservations anymore. The employee left the front desk to go find the manager, which was unsuccessful. After standing in the waiting area for about 10 minutes, the manager came to the front, not specifically to see me, but asked if I was waiting to be seated. I explained the situation and she responded, a bit snarky, that the reservation had been made for 30 minutes earlier. I tried to show her on my phone the reservation, but she had no interest and found us a table. Not a friendly manager and the employee seemed to be very confused. The waitress was only so-so. When we conversed, she was usually looking somewhere else and didn't seem interested. She brought a basket of rolls with some butter but no plates to eat them from. I ordered potato skins as an appetizer and when I received them, again no plates. Both of these items were not brought by the waitress so I had to wait until she came and checked on me before I could ask for a plate. I visited here to specifically try the KC Strip....but they were out and settled for a ribeye, sweet potato, and broccoli. The food was decent, but nothing to be excited about. The rest of the service from the waitress was mediocre at best. When I asked her for a to-go box, she seemed put out by my request. As I was leaving, there was no thanks for coming or any acknowledgement. The front desk employee was sprawled out on the couch and said nothing. My experience was not a great one and won't be eating here again."

"Came here for a steak and sides. Picked out 8 oz sirloin with a baked potato, the twice baked were out. The other side was mac n' cheese. I was expecting baked mac n cheese. Instead, I am presented with a bowl of boxed mac n' cheese. Not even the good stuff like Kraft either. Just dried out, not even warm, generic macaroni. The powder is not cheese. The rolls are hollow and was given a cinnamon butter for it. It was too sweet and weird for a steak meal. Those rolls took over 30 minutes to get to us too. The meal took 10 more minutes. We were seated at 11:10 and we did not see any food until 11:46 pm. For 53 dollars, this was just sad. Please shut off the country music. It is too loud and is not relaxing."

"A nice place with a Christmas tree in June! The steak I had was cooked to a perfect medium rare. The server had several tables going but still provided stellar service. I'll eat here again the next time I'm in Garden City."

"I was in town for one night on my way to some place else when I found this place. Overall a pretty good steak at a very reasonable price. The vibe is laid back family style. The staff was super friend and very much on the ball. I suggest you try the fried pickles for a tasty side dish."
