"Just finished the bull riding school in Derby, KS. I really enjoyed the school and learning from a rodeo legend. Lyle will be straight up and direct with you because these aren’t kittens your getting on. I’m 47 and got on my first bull this weekend. Ended up riding 4 and want to do it again. I hope to make it back again."
"This school is amazing. They let you barrow all the gear and purchase it at the end if you want too.. the coaches are all amazing and are so willing to help anyone learn and teach every detail. They provided good for cheap, and you get to go over your rides on video. Great school, recommend anyone going there!!"
"Beware of SANKEY RODEO SCHOOL! Ordered a set of their 488 spurs, 35 degrees and a tear drop. Email came that they were sending a substitute, I replied do not ship unless they are what I ordered. Package comes and not only are they not what I ordered, look like cheap chinese knockoff that were welded and ground by a person with Special Needs. Emailed again that this was not acceptable, I wanted my $90 back! Three weeks later and I still haven't been acknowleged, never mind had the situation rectified. While I find that most Companies involved in Rodeo are a bit flaky, SANKEY takes it almost to the FRAUDULENT THIEF level. I'll get my $90, or $900 worth of satisfaction telling everybody!"
"These guys are awesome! My son wants to do bull riding so we went to Lyle's school to see how he would like it and to learn the basics and do it safely. Lyle watched over all the guys there and made sure safety was a priority. He is very passionate about what he does and it is obvious. I would recommend his schools to anyone from beginner to professional wanting to up their game. You wont regret it if you go ready to learn something."
"I just completed going through the Sankey Rodeo School. The cost of the school was $440 dollars. Their focus is on rough stock: Bronc, Bull Riding and Bullfighting. At 50, I was the oldest guy in the class. Although I was there just to get the experience of riding on a bull, if I was wanting to decide to make a career out of rodeo cowboying, this school would be the perfect place to be. I was enrolled in the bull riding part of the school. The school is designed for all skill levels. There was about 35 people in my class and several were repeat class participants. It took about half of day one to get all of the gear assigned. Although some had their own gear, most did not. They will lend you, free of charge, everything you need except boots. Their gear is great quality and well maintained. Once everyone had all of their gear we went over the rules of the school and got right into instruction. Because our class was so large, only the people who had ridden bulls before rode on day one. I think we wrapped up the class on day one about 730pm. It was a long day and we covered a lot. Day tow stared with stretching and more instruction. We practiced on simulators and learned chute procedure. About noon we started riding bulls. being a first-timer the instructors were very patient with me. Without a doubt, safety for the student and animal was job one. Since my goal was to ride one bull, I accomplished my goal and left at the end of day two. A couple of things of note. Each time you ride they video tape your ride. Later, they get all of the students together and critique every ride of the day. This was extremely beneficial. About the staff. Lyle Sankey is a no B.S. type of guy. Some might think he is a bit regimented, but rodeo is a dangerous business He does not tolerate people who can't follow the rules and follows instructions. He does this because when people don;t follow the rules, then people get hurt. He is not overly tough. They guy has a lot of heart and passion for rodeo. He just loves it and he loves to share it. The other staff, Cody, Marty and Lee, were just incredible. All three had the singular goal of making you as good a you wanted to be. Again, they were patient and worked with you. Overall, I would give my experience a 5 out of 5. The experience was great and everything they said they would do they did. I would highly recommend Sankey Rodeo School. If you are a person like me who is just looking for an experience, this is a great place. Chris Pruitt"
