"John brown was more american than the rest of us can ever hope to be. He embodied all the ideals of this great nation and fought for his fellow man."
""I, John Brown, am now quite certain that the crimes of this guilty land will never be purged away, but with blood." My brother and I visited Kansas and Missouri for a few days in November of 2023. Because of how our schedule was set up, we did not have the time to visit the actual John Brown Museum in Osawatomie, so we instead settled on seeing his statue. It's not in a very obvious place - Quindaro used to be a settlement that gradually eroded away mostly due to the Great Depression - but the statue is well-maintained and is really a sight to behold. There is information on-site regarding Quindaro and Western University, and of course some information about John Brown and his ill-fated raid. Those who are history enthusiasts should certainly make the time to see the place. One can even dial a number displayed on-site to get some more information about it all, too. Parking was not a problem; we parked just a few feet away from the statue, and in total spent a little less than 10 minutes at the site. I would of course recommend going during the daytime - it would be hard to get a good look at this statue during the nighttime hours."
"Kansas city missouri has sports teams, All the infrastructure and museums. But kansas city kansas, has this awesome statue of john brown. This was the first statue made in his honor. John brown did nothing wrong and kansas honors his legacy. If only he executed his plan better. Guy didn't do things smart in Harper's Ferry. But he got what he wanted, to be a martyr for the destruction of slavery as he eloquently said with his last words. What a legend."
"Came for John Brown and stayed for the wonderful history of Quindaro / Western University. A local man approached me in his vehicle and we chatted for a bit about John Brown. I can not wait to come back. What a great experience."
"Nice little place with a couple plaques that give you some information about the history of the area. Hoping to make it to the Quindaro Museum soon."
