"Terrible school, especially considering how expensive it is. Expecting more of children academically and behaviorally is COMPLETELY different from giving 3rd grade students middle and highschool level school work. The kids aren't even prepared for that type of work, a big book report is just suddenly dumped on them. In a good school, they are taught how to research and write that sort of paper and aren't expected to WAY too young like they are at Xavier. It's ridiculous. I deeply regret sending my child to this school."
"We had a wonderful preschool experience. My daughter was in a class of just 7 students. There was good communication from the caring teachers and staff. They made time whenever we needed anything and were genuine in hearing out any concerns. I loved that she was also taught about the faith at school in a beautiful way. We feel very grateful we were able to have her attend school here."
"My son has gone to Xavier for Preschool and Kindergarten and will continue on there! We love Xavier and all the amazing teachers and staff! The education my son is getting is meeting and exceeding all expectations! He is excelling in all subjects! Soon our daughter will start Preschool and without a doubt she will also attend Xavier! My heart is calm knowing my children are in great hands!"
"I have been fortunate to view Xavier from different lenses - as a graduate of Xavier, a former Xavier teacher, and a current Xavier parent. In response to some of the other reviews, I would like to share my experience. My eldest attended Xavier preschool for 2 years and then Kindergarten. We ended up homeschooling her during the pandemic (which was a personal decision and was not a reflection of Xavier or our experience). The principal has done an excellent job of communicating with my family to help with the transition from homeschool back to Xavier. She, along with her new teacher, took the time to meet with us and our daughter to answer questions. These opportunities, I imagine, helps many of our military families transition to Xavier with confidence. Does Xavier have high expectations? Yes. Academically and behaviorally. As a parent, this is what I want in a private school. I want to know that my child is receiving a relevant and rigorous education with hands-on learning. As a former teacher at Xavier, we challenged students not to simply skate by, but to apply the growth mindset and strive to reach their full potential. Does Xavier nurture children? Absolutely. In particular, the preschool and Kindergarten teachers have always done an exceptional job of helping my children grow in confidence and develop social skills. Their ability to form positive relationships with students is great! The teachers even make a point to seek out students when they see them outside of school, to say hello, and ask them how they are doing. Those moments have had a tremendous impact on my children. One of the things I miss most about working at Xavier are my former co-workers. Xavier is home to some of the most DEDICATED (you'll see their cars there long after school hours and during summer months), PROFESSIONAL (the collective years of experience is amazing!), and all-around WONDERFUL human beings. I am excited that my children will have the chance to interact and learn from such individuals. The present 2.4 star average review does not do this school justice. I would like to point out that the majority of the negative reviews are from students. As an educator, I have had my share of "bad reviews" from students, who later down the road returned to tell me that they learned so much from my class and now appreciate the high expectations that were set for them. Sometimes it takes us a while to be able to look back at experiences and see their true value. I truly believe that Xavier, and the education it provides, is invaluable."
"My son started there in kindergarten and we should have pulled him out then. The principal had an issue with us walking our 6yo up to the school and didn't want to give him time to work up to it. We had to walk him up at the preschool he went to before. She said, "Maybe he should go back to preschool." in front of him and he took this to mean that, if he acted up, he would get to go back. He HATED kindergarten there. Aside from a few good teacher (who aren't there anymore) most of the people just reinforced his behavior. There was a year (4th grade) or two that was better, but this year has been a nightmare. All they did was reinforce his behavior by sending him home, which was what he wanted. It escalated because of them and the fact that he hated that school. They're judgmental, patronizing, and expect far too much of those students. They don't even prepare them for what they have to do! My son came home with middle school and high school level reports to write in the second grade. They didn't even teach the students how to research and write reports. Those earlier years are meant to prepare them for that stuff and they just dumped it on them! It's insane!!! They expelled him in this last month of the school year and we couldn't be happier. I have wanted to take him out ever since his first year there, but the in-laws were pressuring us to keep him there. He is in public school now and thriving! He hasn't had any of the behavioral issues that he had at Xavier at all and looks forward to going to school now. I wish that I knew what was really going on at Xavier, because I did not expect such a massive change right away. I thought that it would still be a fight to get him there. We had to literally drag him kicking and screaming to the car and sometimes to the school building when he went to Xavier. This massive and abrupt behavioral change really makes me think that it was Xavier and not my son that was the issue. Again, we should have taken him out of that school years ago. I deeply regret that we kept him there for so long. He could have been thriving all of this time. He even enjoys math again, which he enjoyed until they started teaching two different chapters every day at Xavier and were expected to be able to absorb it all. To any parents who are thinking about sending their kids there, don't. Let them enjoy their childhood."
