"If I could give less than one star, I would. I purchased a Paella class back in December for my mother & I to take together, as a Christmas gift to her. We live two hours away, in Jefferson City. The day of the class (today, January 22) the roads are covered in ice, all schools are closed, I-70 was shut down for 4 hours this morning. When I called the school to ask if we might come another time as we're unable to travel, the guy responded, "not a chance buddy", and further questioned why we would've booked a class so far away anyway. wow. I own a catering company, and I can't imagine speaking to a customer in such a disrespectful way. To the Kitchen Conservatory's credit, it must be some really good paella for guests tolerate this kind of customer service! I can see now in looking through many other 1 star reviews of this business that this was not a mistake on the Kitchen Conservatory's part, but simply the way they chose to do business."
"We had our knives sharpened there. The price seems cheap, but we tried them anyway. They claim next day pickup, but failed to sharpen my knives. And even worse didn’t call to tell me they weren’t ready (after already giving me a pickup time of 3pm the previous day). After getting the knives back, we’ve notice chips in our knives. I really would not recommend this place. Not sure what we’re going to do about the damaged knives now."
"Went for our 1st couples hands-on experience. Enjoyed great food while learning how to become better chefs. Advanced reservations are required. Very easy to register online and pay for class in advance."
"We took an evening cooking class and really enjoyed the experience. It was different than I was expecting...in a great way! There were about 15 others, mostly couples on a date or friends, and it was very hands on. The groups were stationed to prepare different parts of the course and set off to work while the chef mingled around to assist, offer advice, and explain things. At times it was chaoticly fun as people scrambled to find various tools or ingredients. As time passed, it came to feel more like a fun family gathering during the holiday. By night's end, we were stuffed with all that we ate. Well worth the price of admission and I recommend it. We will return. Check out the online calendar and plan to book early, classes fill up."
"Cook John was an excellent teacher. Our menu was Surf and Turf. Our class was 14 strong and everyone had something to do. We had an Outlaw Ribeye, Filets, Sirloin, Shrimp, Scallops and Lobster. Our sides were Brussel Sprouts with mixed vegetables, Risotto Cakes and Red Potatoes. Mixed Berry shortcake with whipped cream topping. We all had a great time and learned a few new things about Cooking."
