"Last October I was referred by family doctor to Nephrology Associates for a possible kidney issue. I was scheduled to see Andrew Stingo MD. Upon my appointment I was instructed to have some labs done and a 24 hour urine collection. I was given a jug that resembled a small gas can for this collection. After filling it to the brim in less than 24 hours I took it back to the Nephrology Associates and told them I filled it in less the 24 hours, then they told me they needed 24 hours worth and handed me 2 jugs. After filling 1 1/2 jugs in the 24 hours I returned to them and they said these feel warm and I said yes most urine that come from the body is warm. Then the told me I need to do it again as the jugs need to be refrigerated as the urine is collected. It would have been nice if someone in charge of the urine collection process or inhouse Labs would explain to the patient the needs for their office. Fast forward to today, I have another appointment in 4 days , I received a call from Nephrology Associates stating I need more labs before the appointment and have had them done. I ask if that included a urine collection as well and they said yes. I ask why I am just being told this 4 days before my appointment and I was out of town. They said I was given instructions in January when I had my follow up from the October appointment which I wasn't . My wife was with me and confirmed I was not given any paperwork indicating I needed labs or another urine collection before the May 4th appointment. What I had noticed though on all occasions I was at their office is the ladies in the office spend more time chatting about unrelated items and gossip then paying attention to their employers business and their patients. I am sure I am not the only patient that has experienced frustration with Nephrology Associates and doubt the doctors really know the problems they are having in the in house labs and front office. Needless to say I am contacting my family doctors to get another referral to another Kidney Doctor or Group."
