"This place is a joke!!! Took my child to get additional help and testing like Miralac KU helped with my child last year and they took my child off all his meds then couldn't tell me why. Then proceeded to say he had no sensory issues that he was tested for 3 years ago in OT. The OT office noted several times during sessions. After 4 days in their care they did NOTHING for him besides take him off meds and then turn him loose. Do NOT use this facility! It may be nice but they take your insurance $$$ and turn you loose. Worthless!!!"

"Choose any other place but this one if seeking help for your child. I chose this place for my child with autism and DMDD because of information presented on the website and was sorely disappointed. This place claimed to have done several therapies including family sessions, charged for them, but they were never done. My experience with this place is that they operate more like a mill. They get crisis children in the door, bill the insurance and parents, and send them home without solutions or behavioral improvements. This was a very unfortunate experience for my child and my family. Please save yourself some grief and seek another place for your child's crisis intervention."

"If your kid has food allergies DO NOT send them here. I was repeatedly served food that I could not eat, and nothing was done about it when I brought it to the attention of staff. I ate nothing but fruit cups for the 3 days I was there because they never managed to get me food without my allergens in it. My family was not even alerted that I had arrived at the facility until the next morning when my assigned social worker finally bothered to reach out to them. All of the mental health professionals I was seeing outside of KVC at the time agreed that my stay here was the worst experience they had ever seen anyone have with an inpatient facility. STAY AWAY"

"This place is hell. The discrimination I faced here was unholy. If you are the parent of a queer child, a child of color, or quite frankly, a child that is struggling; do not send them here. The staff portrayed an attitude towards us that was discouraging and unapologetically critical. The adults that worked in this building created such a hostile environment, it was impossible for kids to get better. Not only were the staff cruel and uncaring, the atmosphere itself was revolting. The beds—if you can even call them beds—consisted of a scratchy linen blanket, two sheets that they called pillows, and a pungent scented mattress that was maybe an inch wide. Sleeping in these conditions resulted in many of the patients feeling sick, worn down, and many of us woke up with deep bruises on our bodies. On top of that, the rooms are freezing and the blanket that they give us is paper-thin and hardly covers half of my body. Although, even with the prison like conditions, the staff truthfully are the worst part. There were situations where the patients would express their triggers or boundaries, which were completely ignored by the faculty and often laughed at. The staff would make abhorrent comments about us and make remarks about how much they hated their job or didn’t want to be there. I once caught the faculty trash-talking one of the patients and I asked them how they could do that, to which both of them responded, “It’s the only way we survive.” Racial comments were also often made; the white nurses saying things to the black patients such as, “Go to your room before I whip you.” and other hateful remarks like that. One of the nurses I even heard mumble the term “yellow-skin” under her breath when one of the Asian patients walked by. I can recall multiple times where the staff has made me and other inpatients feel unsafe, uncomfortable, and unwanted. In a place where people are supposed to feel supported and cared for, these actions are especially harmful. The staff also made crude faces and pointed looks when some of the queer patients mentioned their same-sex partners. Comments such as, “You’re way too young to be gay” and “Your parents allow that?” were made frequently. If you’re the parent of a transgender child, I cannot stretch this enough, do not send your child here. Trans patients are treated unspeakably here. Every patient I’ve talked to in the program and out of it have stated that it has made them worse. Do not send your child here if you want them to get better."

"Just completed a two part training on ethics by Alexandra, Jenny, Cheryl, Sara, and Shane. Super helpful training with objective guidance and thought provoking ethical situations. There were wonderful group activities too! (and I hate group activities). Thank you for the excellent training."
