Reviews
"As former floor staff there for almost 7 years, I can tell you one thing about all these one star reviews here...they are all true, and that is just what they allow you to know about. I am privy to things that went on there that your reviews don't even scratch the surface of. The corruption, the mismanagement, the nepotism, favoritism, the hypersexualized work environment, the high school drama, gross negligence, coverups of patient deaths, incompetence of providers, Where do you want me to start?"
"True story: My Grandma was admitted as a patient in 1930. She was 30 years old. She suffered from pollegra (insanity from malnutrition). This was during the dust bowl. Back then they would forcibly sterilize crazy women. They pulled up her gown and saw she had a scar and thought it had already been done so they left her alone. In truth, she had her appendix out (!). One day, as the inmates were outside picking berries or gardening, she simply walked away. She went on to migrate West and pick fruit in California and Washington. She lived a troubled life with 5 kids. My mom was the youngest. Thanks to the ineptitude of this place, I was born. Cheers Osawatomie! Edit: grammar"
"No support, unhealthy environment, uneducated 'providers'. Very unhealthy, I don't recommend if you're in a crisis to seek help here you will find none, and likely experience worsening of your condition and medical trauma. Their neglect, over-medication, sedation, leads to not only illnesses worsening but also PTSD. The atrocities inflicted here and the lives destroyed over decades is a stain on all that is good and I believe there is nothing but cruelty there. My mother was sick, a victim, and you helped to destroy her and now she is gone. I have PTSD myself and I know that you are not a safe place to be if I need help. People are better off suffering alone than being tormented and traumatized by this place. I get scared when I drive by and see the sign on the highway."
"I had a wonderful experience here they changed my life and stood me on solid ground and taught me I had a mental illness and ways to cope and deal with it and be a productive member of society I mean this place deserves as much funding as it needs this place sets the foundation for a better tomorrow my experience here was a memorable one enough said this place changed my life and it changed my perspective and taught me how to be a Law abiding citizen and that there are rules for a reason they are there to protect us from doing stupid things and to keep our communities safe"
"They treat human beings like cattle. They care more about doping people up on medications then therapy or treating people like human beings. The workers create toxic atmospheres for patients and supervising staff cover for them. They gaslight patients when workers are being problematic. The doctors are more interested in flaunting their title than actually taking patients serious about how their medications negatively impact a patient's physical being. Doctors here pretend that reading books and passing school is where learning ends and forget that they need to be open to the nuances of patients situations. The doctors need to be open minded to the reality that medications are not a solution for every single patient. Most of the workers do nothing to help when you have a concern or questions. The patient advocate Called "Steven" doesn't even respond to issues or do his job. They pretend that since they changed the rules to prevent workers from being allowed to call security on/sedate patients with syringes for petty/frivolous reasons. That the change automatically makes the environment a safer one. It doesn't when the toxic and petty mentality of the workers hasn't changed. The toxic attitudes of the workers are just as abusive as the physical abuse that used to happen in this facility. Emotional abuse is still abuse and they contribute to the situation with these behaviors. They act as if patients are not allowed to get upset about the emotional abuse, but the workers are allowed to get away with being emotionally abusive. It's in human nature to respond negatively to abuse of any kind. People aren't robots that are designed to shut down just to give poor behavior a pass. Patients have feelings, thoughts, and experiences. This place is still toxic as ever. If I could give zero stars, I would. Shame on people for behaving this way."
