Candlewood Suites Kansas City - Independence, an IHG Hotel

"The rooms are not bad here and location is great. Checking in was easy, but awkward and I believe it's because it was a little later than usual OR the front desk clerk just did not want to be there. I get it, sometimes work just sucks, but don't let that spill into great customer service. I stayed 1-2 September 2023 as I was traveling to Leavenworth the next day. No greeting from front desk, nothing. Not that it matters, but as a diamond member, I could at least get my goodie bag without asking. The lady looked at me as if I was a nuisance asking, lol. What a strange encounter to be working in hospitality and to have no customer service skills whatsoever. Other than that, clean rooms."

"Forgot my speaker in by the pool, that had it shipped back to me 2 business days later. I really appreciated that, it's kinda sentimental. Also staff was courtious. Rooms were clean and stocked with quality shampoo & cond, lotion, even a make up remover wipe lol. Would recommend this hotel 10/10"

"We stayed there on an IHG anniversary night. They charged our credit card $164. I call d three times and the manager was supposed to call me because they were the only person who can refund my card. They never called. I opened a complaint with IHG against the Independence Candlewood Suites and finally received a refund nearly 3 weeks later. The electric car chargers in the parking lot do NOT work. This is one of the reasons for staying there. We had to find another charging station. I would also like to mention that the staff friendliness is not the best at this particular location. We stay at IHG hotels across the country and they are usually very friendly. We will not go back to this location."

"This hotel was very quiet and the staff was very friendly. The rooms were also clean. We got the 1 bedroom suite and liked all the space. They didn't serve breakfast, so we went to WalMart and bought stuff for breakfasts. They have free washers and dryer for the guests and a pool table. It was a good place to stay while we were in town. They have a pool also but we didn't use it."

"This hotel is the BEST I have stayed at in a long time! Extremely clean. Conviently located. Fabulous amenities like a hot tub, pool table, gym, and computers. As well as extras like it is dog friendly with a hiking trail behind the hotel overlooking the Little Blue River and FREE laundry. Finally and most importantly it is the STAFF!!!! Everyone greeted us with smiling faces. Throughout our stay the kind and helpful nature of all the employees was above and beyond!!! Highly recommend!!!"
