Reviews of Wingate by Wyndham Kansas City
"This hotel is not for everyone. If you are looking for something cheap and just somewhere to sleep and if occasional insects in the bathroom do not bother you, then this is your place. If you came with your kids for vacation in hopes of having a good time and nice breakfast, this is not your place. When you come into the hotel, you will see row of dirty arm chairs. In the middle you will see front desk, with some what friendly staff and list of items with pricing you will pay if they will be missing from your room. For example: you will pay $1000 for missing curtains. On the right side of the front desk you will see indoor pool with ice cold water and hot tub covered with wood floors and chairs on the top of it. On your left you will see what supposed to be a bar (no bar) and some what nice eating are. It was dark and very quiet. Room seemed clean. One bed had clean bedding and another one didn't. TV was missing cable so we couldn't watch TV. Bathroom had mismatching shampoo and conditioner and towels were not fresh. I also saw insect, I am not sure what it was, maybe baby cockroach. Breakfast included: sausage, eggs, cereal (no fruit loops), bagels (very chewy), juices and coffee. It was ok. We did not stay second night and left late at night. In conclusion, this is not for everyone."
"The beds were really comfortable. Cleanliness is an issue. There was spilled food and paper on the steps when we arrived and it was still there 5 days later. The room was clean enough except for the sheers that had stains all over them. It looked like someone shook a can of dark pop and sprayed the sheets. Dirty windows in the room too. The shower: the plumbing was about to come out of the wall and the water was barely warm enough. Staff was attentive to our requests. All in all, the hotel needs a makeover, paint and some repairs. The price was good and it’s close to Worlds of Fun."
"can tell they tried some remodeling. The best part of the whole experience and the whole hotel is the unique view when you walk in to check in. They have roll-in handicap accessible showers. Our room had a good shower chair we could use with a detachable shower head so my whole body could get clean. Plenty of get hit water available. Shower had handle bars. The actual space in the room is tight to turn the wheelchair around but it's possible. Good bed."
"They were friendly whenever we spoke to them, unfortunately that was the only positive. The beds looked neat yet the sheets were put on sideways and inside out. There was a red stain with fingerprints in it on the wall. Very poor water pressure and it was extremely noisy. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a while, the lobby was extremely cold. They also disabled our cards way before check out so we had to go have then reenable them. I probably won't be staying here again unless I'm desperate."
"We rented two rooms. On first glance they looked clean enough and didn't smell, but the bed linens were stained. Beds were soft but had a dip in the center. One room didn't have a shower curtain. There were sticky spots on the carpets. We felt safe and it was quiet. The lobby is spacious and clean. Breakfast was good and had good variety. Desk help was friendly. Overall we enjoyed the stay. For the price we were mostly satisfied."
