Reviews of El Molino del Sureste
"Truly such a unique experience getting to try the farm to table cuisine of the Yucatán. Learning how they not only make their own tortillas but their own maize was incredible. The service and food was outstanding, could not recommend it more!"
"We were already looking forward to dining here, having enjoyed many great dishes at Sur Este in the City Foundry, but the food surpassed our expectations! Each dish was perfectly crafted, with an incredible complexity of flavors and textures, and the ideal balance of tradition and innovation. The scallops in a white chocolate mole were absolutely mind-blowing, as were the venison shanks. El Molino del Sureste is one of the very finest restaurants in the city, and I cannot recommend it highly enough!"
"We live in south city and we were really excited to try this place! It’s always so exciting when we get new rein the neighborhood. This traditional Yucatán style restaurant is honestly the most perfect addition to the STL food scene. I learned a lot about how they prepare the food (two woman who are originally from outside Mexico City come to the restaurant every morning to mill the corn used in most of the dishes), and in general I was educated on a lot of the food culture of the Yucatán people which I really enjoyed. The food. THE FOOD was absolutely jaw dropping incredible! It felt like a fine dining experience! You order everything at once and they bring out the food based on flavors to really create a memorable experience. The show stoppers for me we’re definitely the octopus dish (pulpo en su tints), joloches con hongos, and the pork skin taco! The drinks I felt were a little too on the pricey side for this type of restaurant but we still tried 3 off the menu. My favorite being the Meridano. Desserts were worth experiencing, and we also got three of the menu and my favorite was by far the coconut pudding!! We cannot wait to come back soon and we really want to bring more and friends and family back with us. It’s also to note that for 4 people we spent $289 before tip, so I’d really consider this to be a higher end culinary experience and not just your average taco Tuesday place. I would spend that much again though because the food was really THAT good!"
"I recently dined at El Molino, and I can't express how delighted I am with the experience. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was filled with the vibrant energy of Mexico. The decor, the music, and the warm greetings from the staff instantly transported us. Now, let's talk about the food - it was an absolute fiesta for the taste buds! Every dish we ordered was bursting with authentic flavors. The food was a true revelation - perfectly seasoned and with a variety of mouthwatering fillings. I ordered more dishes than on the pictures and all of them were perfect. What truly stood out, though, was the exceptional service. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about sharing their culture through food. They went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was memorable. I also want to commend the restaurant for their commitment to authenticity. It's evident that they source high-quality ingredients and take pride in preparing dishes just like they would in Mexico. El Molino is an absolute gem for anyone seeking an authentic Mexican culinary journey. I can't wait to return and savor more of their incredible dishes. Kudos to the entire team for creating such a wonderful dining experience!""
