"Very disappointed….Ive been coming to Gladstone family dental since I moved to KC 7 years ago. Had to have a ton of dental work done and appreciated Dr. Platt and his staff throughout the many years. Yesterday, they lost two of their patients, my husband and I are not happy with how I was treated at my semi annual cleaning. We drive 2 hours to continue coming to Gladstone Dental because we have valued the service we receive but over the last year that service has continued to decrease and we had enough yesterday. I drove two hours to my appointment to be told that their hygienist had called out sick with COVID and they were going to need to reschedule me. They supposedly tried calling me at 7:45 that morning to reschedule but were unable to get ahold of me (they had the wrong number in their system even though I called 2 weeks prior and updated my phone and email - she argued with me that the number has my name and info on there so they didn’t think anything of it - it was my work phone and I had taken the day off to make the trip to KC specifically for this teeth cleaning). I informed them I just drove 2 hours for my appointment, I’m 8 months pregnant and about to be put on bed rest and unable to travel back to KC, asked if there was anything they could do to squeeze me in as this is very inconvenient - I took the entire day off work, drove 2 hours to be here, won’t be able to come back to the city anytime soon with me being put on bed rest, and they didn’t update my number as requested when I called two weeks ago. I was told I could “wait around and see if anyone didn’t show up”. I told them I could wait around KC until 1:30/2 at the latest but had to get back for my son’s basketball game. They called me at 1:12 and asked if I could be there in 10 minutes and they could get me in. That wouldn’t have gotten me out in time to make it back for my son’s game and they knew that. I asked if I could speak with an office manager because I feel like this whole thing was handled inappropriately….if we cancel on them less than 24 hours we are charged a cancellation fee. This is the third time they have done this to me and now that I live over 2 hours away I wanted to make sure this wouldn’t continue to happen and I don’t appreciate how unaccommodating and rude the front office staff were placing all the blame on me when I did my due diligence and updated all my contact information just two weeks ago. I was told that I am being unreasonable and unless I wanted to get back on their schedule anywhere from 2 weeks to 4 months from now there was nothing they could do for me. They placed me on hold to speak with whom I thought was an office manager but was just another front office staff member who said they have no management just the owner they report to and she agreed there was nothing they could do to help me other reschedule at another date and that I was being unreasonable (this is my last week that I can travel this far from home - I was simply asking to work me into their schedule). I was told they couldn’t ask another patient to reschedule just to fit me in, wait, didn’t you just reschedule on me? I was told people are loyal to their hygienist and they would have to push them out depending on their hygienists schedule….wait, didn’t you just do that with me? I haven’t had the same hygienist in years….I asked about them charging us a cancellation fee and with this being the third time they’ve done this in the last 3 years could I charge them a cancellation fee (the day off work, the gas to drive 2 hours, the time I wasted in KC) and they laughed. Done wasting my time and energy on somewhere I do not feel valued. Which is sad I really like Dr. Platt and all the hygienists and the experience I have had over the years but this whole thing was ridiculous."
