"My husband is a Veteran of 43 years, army. He is 100% disabled. He tries to use the VA in Jackson, Ms. I say he tries. If you call them it takes forever. Sometimes, the extensions are not even answered! At his appointments, it is always a wait. I see a lot of employees standing around talking with each other or looking at their cell phones. Who is the governing agency for this hospital? The ones I worked at had JCHO. The nursing homes I worked at had the state inspectors. This place needs to be monitored. No wonder the VA hospitals have such a bad reputation. This place needs a major overhaul. I thought they were going to improve the care at the VA hospitals."
"There is really nothing good to say about this place! It is very sad that our veterans are being treated the way they are! My dad went in for what he thought was a sinus infection at about 10am this morning. My mom eventually went up there to see what was taking so long because my dad had not eaten all day. They sat and waited so long before being seen. They didn’t leave that place until about 5:15 this evening. My dad had already informed us another patient had been waiting longer than he had been waiting! It is ridiculous and something needs to be done. This is not the first time my dad has sat all day there. These are our veterans that have and still fighting for our country! They deserve some better service than what they are getting! GET IT TOGETHER THE VA!"
"I’ve been a patient at this VA for 31 years. I checked in after being discharged from Marine Corps in 1992. Just as most facilities, it has its good and bad. But what makes it bad is the LAZY EMPLOYEES. Seems the idea is to work here because of the benefits and retirement. Plus, it’s supposedly laid back. This is not the place to take it easy, this is a hospital like all others. One thing that’s a hindrance to patients is the out dated system and the fact that they require steps to treatment. For example, I tore rotator cuff, you don’t automatically get MRI, you must have x-ray and even after that my PCP refused MRI. She stated that ‘THEY’ would want to know why!!! I was cycling and hit by motor vehicle, isn’t that good enough! Smh My point, the system is set up to fail patients when they need care the most. You have people sitting behind a desk deciding what’s best for patients versus those who are actually providing care. Hopefully the new director of VA isn’t playing golf like the last. OVERALL, I would say I’ve had pretty good treatment with the exception of a problem here or there. I will always go to VA because those who care, truly care and you will have good and bad at all facilities. I’m not a Veteran who complains especially when we pay very little for care if anything."
"This place is horrible. How do you let Veterans who risk they life for all you who claim you support vets and love us vets. Let us sit in the waiting room for 2 hours before someone even ask to see if we ok. This place is the worst get people who actually care about vets in this place this is effin ridiculous."
"The worst VA medical center I've ever been to. The majority of the staff do not care about their patients. If you need to set up an appointment don't bother calling. They won't answer the phone. I can't count how many times I've attempted calling here and still could not get anyone to answer. I had to physically go to the VA to schedule it. I live 45 miles away. I needed an appointment and they wanted to schedule me 7 months out. If the va cannot provide the care I need in a reasonable amount of time then I should have been referred to an outside clinic. They wouldn't do it. I asked to speak to a patient advocate they wouldn't help me with that either. Do not go to this VA if you have health insurance. Go somewhere else. they do not care about helping with the suicide crisis among veterans. If they did they would answer and return phone calls. This VA medical facility should be investigated and shut down until they fix the problem."
