"Tomb of a young girl who was frightened by storms. Her mother built a staircase down so she could visit her daughter during bad weather. Her parents were not very wealthy; there are no markers for their graves on either side of their daughters tomb. The cemetery in general is well kept and an interesting place to see glimpses of the past."
"Extremely interesting story behind this grave and person. The Cemetary tour sign says 13, but map says 12."
"Bless her heart. Florence Irene Ford clearly came from an affluent family for her mother to build such an extravagant and seemingly bizarre crypt for her. By today's standards I can understand the draw and folklore toward it but it was simply a grief stricken mother trying to do all that she could for her recently deceased daughter. I'm not going to lie, if the window was still accessible I would definitely take a peek. She died in 1871 though so I highly doubt anything would be left at all other than a few small bone shards probably covered in algae or moss. Either way it is an incredible and fascinating resting place. It should always be treated as such."
"Such a sad yet sweet story of a mom's never ending love for her baby girl."
"Great place to visit for a look into the past life of wealthy. Many of the original out buildings, slave quarters and home all add to how life for them must have been. Tour quide was very knowledgeable and fun. He added the side that isn't in most books. Loved this tour and it is free. Definitely a must see."
