"I started going to therapy here a few months ago, and at first, it was a good experience. The therapist I had here shared my confidential information. She said that she was legally required to, but she was not. The first thing they tell you in therapy is that your information is confidential unless you’re hurting yourself, hurting someone else, or someone is hurting you. I had a very traumatic experience happen to me months ago, and I made the personal decision not to share it with anyone because I was not ready. Once I worked up the nerve to tell her what had happened, she called my mother in front of me and read the police report out loud to me, which was almost as equally traumatizing as my parents aren’t the most comforting and accepting people. This whole experience has discouraged me from ever going to therapy again."
