Reviews of Staybridge Suites Flowood
"Needed a place to stay on a long drive and this hotel was better than expected. Looked very new the rooms were clean as well as the common areas. Large suites with everything you would need for a longer stay. Indoor pool and right off the highway. Nothing in waiting I distance but lots of restaurants convenient by car."
"Check in was at 3pm. We showed up and waited (with kids). We were the only ones waiting on a room. We were told that staffing was the issue. Finally got a room at 5:30. Room smelled like cooking grease. Was told the manager would reach out once she got there. Shocker but she didn’t. Do not recommend and we won’t be back."
"I had previously stayed at this location overnight and returned because the rooms were clean and accommodated my family of 5. So I returned for a weekend visit of three nights and wish I hadn’t. First, the cleanliness wasn’t up to par as my first visit. The glass plate in the microwave was congealed with food waste and the inside of the refrigerator also had food remnants. I was upset, but it wasn’t a deal breaker. However, this was: my daughter got sick the first night and vomited on the bathroom floor. I cleaned as best I could with what was in the room, and I asked the front desk to please send housekeeping to do a thorough cleaning. This was on Saturday morning, and by my last night (Sunday night), housekeeping still had not come to my room as requested. Between this time, I went to the front desk several times asking for housekeeping, and this request was never honored. I asked the housekeeping ladies personally, and they never came. I also didn’t have soap in the bathroom the entire stay which I also asked for several times. Overall, this was a horrible experience!! I would not recommend this location to anyone."
"We stayed in a Queen Suite, because that was the room type available. The bedroom area was clearly NOT designed to hold 2 queen beds: For one bed, you had to literally squeeze yourself between the end of the bed and the door to the suite in order to get to the bathroom. The other bed had about a foot of clearance between it and the window. How the maids change that linen, I don't know. The beds are about 3' off the ground. Easier on the maids to make the bed, not so easy to get into. You have to be at least 5' 8" tall to reach the towels in the bathroom. One of us is considerably shorter than that, and had to have help to get a towel down. It's even worse in the kitchen, where all the dishes are out of reach for the short person. If I were the hotel, I would be ashamed of the breakfast that was served: stale breakfast breads, gravy that looked like wall paper paste, dried up link sausages, some already peeled hard boiled eggs (at least that was the assumption of what they were),no bananas, no yogurt. The juice machine had watered down orange juice. The Coke dispenser was turned off. The coffee was weak. We've had better included breakfasts at much lower priced chains. A traveler tip: Don't turn in at the Chevron Station at the light because there is no link between the 2 adjacent parking lots. Instead, look for a small, un-marked driveway, which is the only way in and out. If you are traveling with a pet, be aware that there are signs all over asking you to keep your pet off the landscaping, which is fine, if the pet area was grassy. In fact, the pet area is a small strip of bushes at the back of the hotel that is bordered by a drainage ditch and an open field. Not conducive to actually walking your dog. Two bright spots (1) our welcome front desk staff were pleasant and helpful, and (2) the washer and dryer in the guest laundry are very good (assuming you can find the guest laundry- on the 3rd floor it was actually in a locked room that said "Linen Storage." ) We've stayed in many Staybridges and, up until now, it has been our first choice. This hotel has caused us to re-think that."
"Upon check-in at 8:30 at night, there was only one bath towel. There wasn’t a lightbulb in one of the living room lamps and the batteries in both remotes didn’t work. The lightbulb wasn’t a big deal but I had to go down to the front desk to ask for towels and new batteries. I was told all of the bath towels were “in the dryer”. I offered to come back down in 20 minutes. I was given the new batteries and I went back to my room. The front desk guy came up to the room to bring a singular towel. Nice of him to bring a towel but two of us checked in and we both have waist length long hair. I did not even bother asking for another towel. We were both too tired after traveling to even shower that night. My main point here is this was a room we had checked into at 8:30 at NIGHT. Shouldn’t the room have been stocked with towels before they rented it out? The room was overall clean and odor-free except for the food in the fridge and an orange-more on that in a moment. The room has full size bottles of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, and lotion on the wall. There was also a mini bar of Dove hand soap in the bathroom. There were no makeup wipes or anything other than the mini soap bar. I don’t know if this hotel offers anything else normally like a shower cap or wipes but thought I would mention it here in case you use those items. There were so many fingerprints and even a child’s handprint on the bedroom mirror (took picture-the prints are much more prominent in person. They were all through the middle of the mirror). The locked closet that I’m assuming houses an air handler was so filthy with dust. My allergies bothered me all night long even after an allergy pill, I stayed stuffy. The biggest surprises were an orange behind the living room television and an open container of baby food in the fridge. Attention to details such as this shouldn’t be missed. Fast forward to the next morning-after my workout, I went back to the front desk and asked for the two additional bath towels so the other person in my room could shower. I was told by a different employee that there aren’t any because “they’re in the dryer”!!!! Are you kidding me??? I asked if I could get one from housekeeping and I was told nobody was cleaning rooms yet. This was 8:30 in the morning. So for twelve hours, the towels have been “in the dryer”. The nice employee handed me three bath mats to use. Whatever, I was over it at that point. So I went back to the room and unfolded the one full-size towel that was originally in the room and I used a bath mat for my hair. By the way, the big towel had a big hole in it. See picture. I’ve never seen a towel with a hole at a nice hotel like this one. I just couldn’t believe there weren’t any more towels at this hour. Breakfast includes hash browns, boiled eggs, cereal, biscuits, sausage, bagels, muffins, toast, waffles, fruit, various toppings, and juices. I did not see any scrambled eggs, yogurt, or bananas. The gym is only open from 8 am to 10 pm which I didn’t like. I like to work out before going to a meeting. The gym is nice, maybe not for a lot of people working out at once but it was sufficient for us. They have free weights, a Bosu, two thick exercise mats, several medicine balls, a bench, a treadmill, a stair stepper, and a row machine. The weight room had two televisions and was odor-free and spacious. Overall, the place is decorated very nicely. The air was nice and cold. The water pressure was great. The bed was super comfortable. Not too firm or too soft and plenty of big fluffy pillows are in the room. The large televisions were clear and not pixelated. The staff was friendly. I probably would stay here again but I guess I will bring my own towels next time and I will just accept that I may have to empty out the fridge and check behind the television for random fruit. The location is convenient and I felt safe."
