"I made my appointment over a month ago but it wasn’t until after I arrived that I was told the doctor I had scheduled with was no longer taking new patients. The receptionist told me they called me twice to let me know. I pulled up my phone and showed her no missed calls or voicemails from the clinic. (I also have my voicemails transcribed to text because of my job, and there were no transcribed voicemails from the clinic.) The woman I was checking in with was apologetic, but the second receptionist interrupted by laughing. I looked over at her as she explained with a huge smile that this is a KNOWN issue. She said that they often leave messages with their patients, but their messages don’t go through. It was shocking how little she cared when I shared that I took a day off work for the appointment. She smirked as she shrugged it off. This was my first experience with this office and if her customer service is any indication of the level of medical care provided at that clinic, I’m better off with the appointment being canceled."
"I saw several different nurse midwifes and OB's during my first pregnancy and was pleased with the care and experience offered by all."
"This review pertains specifically to the care received by Shirley Ma. My daughter went in to have an IUD put in. Shirley's energy was great from the start. She was warm and very communicative. She answered any questions and thoroughly explained everything happening during the procedure. She was encouraging to my daughter and talked her through each step. We are both so grateful for such a positive experience and relieved to receive such excellent care. Thank you!"
"If you are pregnant, please think twice before trusting WHA with your prenatal care. Starting early in the second trimester (pregnant with twins) I began feeling extreme pelvic compression along with many other symptoms that were dismissed repeatedly by my OB at the time, Dr. Maggie Hayes. Irritated with the constant dismissal, around 24 weeks I began the process of switching my care to the Oregon Clinic. At 25 weeks on a Saturday I slept around 16 hours and woke up with a dull backache - I called the after hours line concerned about how I was feeling and was told it was “probably nothing call back if it gets worse”by the nurse on the advice line. Later Sunday morning around 4:00 am I woke up with excruciating back pain that wrapped around my abdomen. I called the after hours line and this time spoke with Dr. Hayes. Her tone sounded very inconvenienced as we spoke. As a first time mom I did not realize what I was feeling were obviously contractions not was I ever informed that carrying twins put me at higher risk for preterm labor. Dr. Hayes instructed me to “take a Tylenol and a hot shower”. At one point I told her I was scared and when I asked if this could be preterm labor she said quote “let’s not go there”. At the end of the conversation she said I could go to labor and delivery if I wanted to for “peace of mind”. When I asked her if it was preterm labor if there was anything they could do to stop it she said “not really”. I didn’t listen to her. I followed my instinct and thank god decided to go in. When I arrived at L&D (an hour away from my home), I was already dilating and my contractions were 1-3 minutes apart. Both my babies and I had concerning high heart rates and as the doctors within minutes began administering steroid shots, a magnesium drip, and drugs to hopefully stop my labor. They began preparing me for talks with NICU staff about what would have been an unspeakably awful journey if they had even survived birth. Thankfully the drugs the doctors administered, the life-saving treatments Dr. Hayes made me believe did not exist stopped the labor. If I had listened to Dr. Hayes I truly believe I would have buried my sweet babies or they would have suffered with life-altering disabilities as a result of their prematurity. After switching to the Oregon Clinic for my prenatal care, I followed up with the WHA clinic manager who said the issue had been “elevated”. She followed up with me a few times but I truly believe nothing has been done to prevent other women from experiencing similar negligence. This review is not an attempt to drag a doctor or clinic, it is intended to protect other mothers from receiving the same negligent prenatal care I did."
"I had a tubal ligation here several years ago that resulted in severe pain and other health complications. The doctor and staff refused to acknowledge that there could be any possibility that there could have been surgical complications and I've been left to suffer the health effects for years. The doctor who performed the surgery kept trying to convince me that the symptoms that started after the surgery must have been things I had been experiencing all along. He also kept really bad surgical notes to the point of making it very difficult for providers at other locations to even understand what he had done during the surgery. I do not recommend this place."
