About the Business
Aikido-Portland Aikikai, located at 1419 Northwest Raleigh Street in Portland, Oregon, is a health institution founded in 1992 by Yoko Okamoto and Christopher Mulligan. We practice the Aikikai Style, derived from the teachings of Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of Aikido. As a member of the United States Aikido Federation, Portland Aikikai is a Dojo where students learn a "way" to improve themselves through daily practice. In addition to Aikido, we also offer classes in Kenpo, Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu, and Shindo Muso Ryu Jojutsu.
Scholarships are available for those needing financial assistance, and visitors are always welcome to try a free class or watch any class. Our instructors are happy to answer any questions you may have. Families are encouraged to watch classes, and parents can join their kids during some children's classes with the instructor's approval. This is a great opportunity for families to train together.
The Dojo is conveniently located near bus routes and the Portland Streetcar, making it easily accessible. Come visit us and experience the spirit of our Dojo at Aikido-Portland Aikikai!

Reviews
"Don't know if I can do better than Jay's review, which I agree with completely, except to add why I love Aikido: it is a peacemaking art that is also great exercise (burpees for an hour or really cool throws?) and ever so slightly spiritual. No board breaking, lots of partner work. Please join us!"
