"While I greatly enjoyed getting swim lessons here with my children, I have to say that the smaller pool DESTROYED my daughters' hair. I have never been to a pool that spending 30 minutes in can turn your hair from healthy and smooth to a Barbie like texture. We wanted to continue lessons, but their hair began falling out after one session, and their eyes would be burning red (with goggles) after each session, and needed eye drops. After trying leave-in hair creams, wetting it down before, swim caps, specialized shampoo and conditioners (multiple) as the only way to slow (non stop) the damage, I took a pool test strip with me to check the pool. The numbers for chlorine and Ph were at unsafe levels, which would explain burning eyes and hair falling out. I had to chop their hair, which, for a little girl trying to grow her hair out, is fairly devastating. We have switched to another pool, despite the convenience of this location. I hope they fix this issue."
"Cassy P is a great instructor!! Forest Grove needs a NEW POOL. FGAC was built in 1968; it's slowly crumbling. Newberg has a state-of-the-art aquatic center and we deserve one. We've added so many apt complexes and businesses, it's obvious that our tax base has grown. "There's no money" is not a good enough excuse."
"The Forest Grove Aquatic Center, intended to be a stepping stone for young adults and those entering the workforce, must catch up to its promise under the management of Sherrie and Cassy. In an atmosphere tainted by the neglect of your child's voice, a glaring absence of respect, and a blatant disregard for fair treatment, there's a substantial risk of undermining young lifeguards' ambitions to acquire life-saving skills and demonstrate their work ethic. The time for decisive action is now. As a lifeguard at this facility, it became abundantly clear that the management not only disrespected us but also struggled to ensure timely and, at times, accurate compensation. Our time records were kept using outdated paper timesheets, resulting in numerous avoidable and potentially illegal discrepancies in our paychecks. After three months on the job, my concerns peaked when I experienced my first missed pay period, receiving compensation for only 15 out of the 20 hours I worked. Despite my efforts to address the issue by contacting my manager, Sherri, through emails and calls, she steadfastly refused to take responsibility for losing my recorded hours. The experience left me disheartened, disrespected, disparaged, and in an overall state of frustration. Highlighting a critical concern is the ongoing issue with Cassy, a veteran figure with almost two decades at FGAC, managing her team with a notable disregard for mutual respect. Under her leadership, instances of favoritism contribute to an environment where employees feel consistently overlooked and undervalued, particularly affecting dedicated lifeguards responsible for ensuring patron safety and managing various responsibilities. Despite the lifeguards' unwavering commitment, it's crucial to emphasize that they personally invest funds, paying $150 for Lifeguard training, dedicating over 30 hours to intensive in-person training, and an additional 6 hours to online training. This includes mastering CPR/AED First Aid and acquiring proficiency in every save style. However, lifeguards are still expected to engage in cleaning duties during breaks, receiving compensation of $15 per hour. Addressing this matter with empathy and understanding is imperative to prioritize these dedicated individuals' well-being and fair treatment. A thorough review and potential adjustments to compensation and workload could significantly enhance the working conditions for lifeguards, fostering a more supportive and equitable environment."
"Public swim, what can I say. Rates are reasonable even for out of town pricing. Bring the kids, or don't. Hot tub is relaxing, and sauna is top notch if you need to sweat out the stresses of your workday. Diving board and slide are fun too. Llife guards and staff are friendly and attentive. Good atmosphere, fun times."
"Great little local pool! Never as busy as the Hillsboro aquatic center which is always our favorite part. We have been to multiple birthday parties here as well that are always a hit! The party room can only be decorated 15min prior to the party which is a joke for one parent to do though. Glad I was there to help friends out recently set up simple snacks, decor, and balloons!"
