"When I first moved in here I thought the apartments were really cute. They had a vintage feel that I really like. We've been lucky enough to have really nice Neighbors but the area is has gone downhill a lot. I've been here for 2 years now and honestly I really don't recommend it. Cars have been stolen from the parking lot. We have people rummaging through the garbage. Someone was even caught rinning across the roof of the apartments. There are homeless people who sleep in the parking lot. Right across from the apartments there's actually a halfway house which brings a lot of unsavory people. good luck getting the management to do anything. The laundry room always has a washer and dryer down. And if something breaks in your house it takes them forever to fix it. That's if they actually fix it. I do not recommend these apartments. The only good thing is they are for the most part pretty quiet. We also have been having a major issue with black mold. It's constantly coming back and they really don't do much. They try to give us the giant air filter. It was loud and took up most of the bathroom. We had them remove it because my husband works from the bedroom and it was interfering with his job. And then in our kids bathroom the only thing they did was scrub down the outside of the ceiling and paint over it. They have not addressed the issue that is going on under the surface."
"We were loyal, low maintenance tenants for over four years. Never late on a payment. Whenever there was a problem with the unit, the property manager was pretty good at being attentive to the issues. She was also very personable and pleasant, but more on that later. During our time there it was a constant battle with black mold except during the summer months. We would take pictures and alert the property manager about the issue, but alarmingly the best solution was to loan us a big noisy air dehumidifier that we kept on 24/7 at our own expense on our electric bill and it didn't do anything to solve the mold growth anyway. Other than that, there wasn't much else to report about. So we just moved out at the end of 2021 and were expecting a nice chunk of change out of the $1250. deposit to counterbalance our expensive move. But much to our dismay, we received a check for $177!!! We left the apartment in immaculate condition having spent alot of time to make it as easy and inexpensive for them as possible, knowing we'd have a better chance at a decent return on our deposit. The only thing they needed to do was replace the ridiculously low end carpet (that is a no-brainer after over 4 years). And there was some holes in the drywall due to tv mountings. They charged us $300 for a half hour of hole repair, but the big grabber is they charged $700 to clean the carpet. As if we're supposed to believe they didn't just replace it. This was all signed off on by our friendly property manager to boot. That's about as unscrupulous as it gets. Avoid Westwood apartments and Cambridge Real Estate Services at all costs."
"Nice quiet complex"
"My husband and I were so excited when we saw our current apartment at Westwood listed on craigslist. It looked like a retro styled apartment community and boasted custom made retro themed counter tops. We were masterfully fooled. We signed our lease even though the unit we were sold online pictured a fireplace that our unit didn't actually have, and the only shower in our unit was unusable due to the fact that it was 40 years old and made of broken flexiplastic. The manager assured us however that it would be fixed before we moved in the next month, and that they were building an outdoor room in our backyard to offset the overpriced unit for this industrial part of town. This was 15 months ago now and the shower was never completed. The outdoor room part was just an outright lie. Not only that, but they somehow convinced us to let them ruin our functional bathroom in the chaos. More terrible than all this was the brutal home invasion, sexual assault, and car theft, that happened two doors down from our unit three weeks ago, followed by two car break ins and someone being discovered sleeping in the garbage can enclosure. Management hasn't notified us or any of our neighbors of these happenings, more concerned for bad publicity than human safety, and we have yet to see one police patrol checking into this "set apart from the street" community that we once thought was so safe. The road so far: The community switched managers because the one they had was clearly unable to do his job. for example, directly before he left we waited for him to cash our rent check for two months before the new manager informed us that he had lost it. There was no apology for our personal information being gone without a trace. Brilliantly on their part, a year into our residency when we were ready to move they made sure to begin the construction on our bathroom, finally. We stupidly resigned another lease so that my son wouldn't need to change schools. I mean, a new manager, a promise to make our unit functional. We could forgive the year we waited, right? I mean the community was far away from everything and not accessible by bus after 2pm sure, but it was safe right? Before they fixed our useless shower we were told they needed to add a shower unit to our main bathroom (which at this point was a vintage bathtub space that functioned very well) at the same time to "modernize the space". We didn't want this but we weren't really asked, and we went along with it only because we were assured the whole renovation process to fix our broken shower and add a shower to the main bathroom would be completed in two weeks time. That was four months ago. Here we are now. Two months into our new lease and nearly every other day we get a text to let us know construction workers will be in our home throughout the day. The bathtub was somehow broken when they installed a shower onto it, and now it only drizzles water so my son can't take a bath in it. The shower they promised to build anew was fully tiled and then left for weeks without a shower head or door. They just installed the door last week and told us they were finished, leaving the wall they built for the shower unit made of exposed cardboard sheeting. We just asked politely to be let out of our lease citing all of these grievances, and just received a rejection letter from management responding that we should be thankful for "all of the upgrades" to our unit. Yes thanks so much. This place is 1250 a month and is next to a freeway. and they keep raising the prices to do laundry. Don't be fooled like we were, keep your family far from this awful place."
