Artisan Apartments

"When I first moved to Portland, I was lucky enough to find and move into Artisan Apartments. Both the maintenance and office staff have been wonderful, especially once CloudTen took over. Any question I have is promptly and carefully responded to, and I would feel confident recommending this complex to anyone looking to rent in SE. My only complaint is that I wish Insomnia Cookies would open already!"

"I'm updating my review to one star after management called me due to my initial review. They promised to fix things, but it has been 7 months since then and all we have are more problems. After many requests, the building is still not cleaned regularly. Stained carpets and dirty floors throughout. The trash room is nauseating and has so much stuff that it blocks the bins. You have to wade through mystery goop to get to the dumpster. Worst of all, our utility bills have doubled in the past few months ($180!). It took months of pushing just to get some investigation into the issues, which have still yielded few results/changes. Living in an apartment should not be this difficult and for what you're paying I strongly suggest renting elsewhere. I have lived in the Artisan building for a year and a half now. The unit itself is charming, with big windows, nice appliances, and great built-ins. In that time, we've had 6 different managers across two companies. Each round comes with a little improvement at first with lots of promises ultimately left unfulfilled. They finally addressed the longstanding issue with break-ins to the secure bike room (it took a year to get any results... after a dozen bikes stolen). Package thefts have been reduced since new door codes were issued. Like everything, this was treated with no urgency and took many months to implement. The theft is still an issue, in part because Luxer package locker system is poorly managed and left full of old packages. Since the commercial tenants moved in, our utilities have increased 2x. Management has dragged their feet and still never fully reimbursed us for the out of control costs. I get that the property managers are human, and they're doing what they can with the resources available, but it's clear that the owner does not value its tenants... just its bottom line."

"I’ve lived in Artisan apartments for a year now and had an ok experience for the first few months. Unfortunately the management company changed after those first few months and everything went downhill from there. The building is not safe, secure, or clean. There has been a multitude of break-ins that result in stolen packages and bikes, damaged property, and even graffiti inside the building. Even the “secure” areas like the package lockers and locked bike room have been broken into several times. I’ve also had someone attempt to break into my own apartment a couple times. Also the property is very dirty. The walls and carpet are all irreparably stained because it’s hardly ever cleaned. The management company has been completely unresponsive regarding any of these issues yet they still have found the time to raise rent this year. They only have one single person managing several properties. Therefore that one person doesn’t have the resources to deal with these issues by themselves. The apartment itself is nice with its large windows and luxury appliances but all of that is worthless if the bare minimum of having a safe and clean place to live isn’t being met."

"i met Katelyn (spelling?) today to tour different floor plans for my out of town sister. she was on time and incredibly professional and friendly. i am skeptical of property managers from past experiences but her honesty was refreshing - she was very transparent with issues left behind by past management that she was working to clean up and try to make the living experience better for current and new tenants. fantastic human altogether - but also very good at her job and i appreciated her being direct and up front about any possible shortcomings for the place. the apartments were nice! the cheap plywood looks like it does on photos but the appliances were very nice and good floor plans, amazing storage!"

"I am moving back to Portland and doing it all sight unseen. I have had great service with Artisan Apartments and few others with Sunrise. I've been working with Katelyn, who I recently discovered is the new manager there. She has answered every question and helped me get a better idea of the building, area, etc. I appreciate her quick response, honesty and all the information about each apartment. I look forward to moving into Artisan or another Sunrise property because of her positivity and professionalism."
