"The Ryder is a clean, safe, well maintained apt building right in the heart of SE Portland. Walking distance to restaurants, shops, galleries and movies. Apts range in size but are cozy and for the most part pretty quiet. Staff and maintenance have always been helpful."

"On the whole, I am very happy with my apartment at The Ryder. The size is small, but with the high ceilings it seems larger and is a wonderful space to showcase my art work."

"The property management group was horrible at move out. The move out charge was way overboard and they would not listen to reason. While the stay was decent for the short time we were there the bitter aftertaste follows you for long."

"Beware of move-out accounting! We stayed here for ~8 months, and spent last month at our new place. We cleaned the place with mopping to cleaning and moved out happy. There was no communication from the property management regarding inspection dates and time (which based on state law they are supposed to) they sent us an Invoice end of the month for cleaning as well as full unit painting and shellac. The Painting reason on our Invoice was some wear and tear marks in pictures so we reached out to dispute. At this point out of nowhere the office said it was due to "smells" of our cooking that permeated through the walls that they had to remove with painting - which was never communicated to us until a month after move out and seems like a ridiculous assumption based on our name/race. The location of the apartment is great and the amenities are good but consider your deposit lost and budget for ~300$ more for additional "smells" as additional charges you'll have to pay due to your pets or your cooking."

"This is a poorly built apartment complex. The only amenities are somewhere to park your bike. I've never missed a payment in over a year and a half. Yet, I've been threatened eviction multiple times over tiny things. The lack of security makes me fear for my life when I need to take my dog on her late night potty's. The apartment complex has been broken into twice. One incident they stole all the lobby furniture. Another incident a squatter was able to make it into the building, and not only that but spend the night in one of the empty apartment units. My car was broken into twice right in front of the building. When I asked was the construction next-door a parking lot, because it was mentioned in our lease that there may be a parking lot added later on, I was met with attitude. Once while alone at home, someone jiggled my door handle and I am grateful I lock myself in. There was extremely loud construction that shook the building letting me know that the foundation is unstable. We all thought it would amount to something worth the trouble, however it remains a dump site and attracts the homeless not to mention, it's an ugly sight. I feel bad for the windows now facing nothing but trash. I have been using the same renters insurance for a year and a half and now I've been threatened to change it or get evicted. This news came out of nowhere and only left us 30 days to find something affordable in an inflated market. If you'd like to see value in your dollar I warn you do not move here! It's full of surprises, and not the good kind."
