"My daughter and I just finished a year of living at this complex. We lived in one of the newly remodeled units, which was beautiful. Overall, it was a decent experience, but there were some deficits I wanted to note just so the public is aware. These apartments are priced higher than the average apartment because of the amenities that they claim to have at the complex. But, the whole year we lived here there were probably only 30 days the “security gate” was in operation and the pool was also closed the majority of the year. I paid extra for these amenities so that I could feel secure in a not secure area of town, so those things were very disappointing. Also, I just got my deposit back and they charged me $205 to clean the apartment when it was pristine clean when I moved out. The industry standard is $25 an hour for cleaning so that would mean that someone needed to spend over 8 hours cleaning that apartment? That’s completely ridiculous, I not only cleaned every fixture and appliance, but pulled the appliances out and scrubbed the wall and floors behind them. The counters , cabinet fronts, light fixtures, window tracks, were all cleaned, and when I say clean, they were professionally cleaned because I am a professional cleaner myself, have run a clean business for 15 years. They charged me because it no longer looks brand new, but it can’t look brand new after anyone has lived there for a year. They also charged me for new drip pans when I put brand new drip pans in the day I moved out. Over all, this was very disappointing. I feel I treated the complex and the manager very fairly and respectfully and I do not feel like I got that in return. Money is hard to come by and every penny counts. It’s so disappointing that the only recourse I have is to make a negative review when I could just be treated, fairly and respectfully in the first place and be able to leave a great review for this complex."
"Lived here for 5 years a bit ago - a great deal at the time, but new management hiked up the prices to such an amount you might as well rent your own house. At least you’ll get parking. The parking situation is so bad and NOT enforced... residents are told only two cars in residential parking and the rest in visitor, and the people with 5 cars make it so the people with 2 cars can’t even park in their own complex. Parking at Walgreens around the corner doesn’t ease the brain - Lancaster is DANGEROUS. It’s technically gated, but anyone skinny or with long arms can get in the gate. The pool is a nice perk, but if you’re in a top apartment you might as well live in the pool, since it’ll get so hot. However, it’s got great access to I-5 I guess. Oh god and they said no smoking on the property which I thought was great! But people smoked at night all the time, and no one did a thing. It’s too expensive to live there for no one to actually enforce the rules you pay for. EDIT JAN 2022: heard the rent went up yet again to $1,200-1,400/mo. I moved in when it was $700/month, and given that the floor plan hasn't doubled in size, there's no point in paying such astronomical rent prices. If you're looking for somewhere reasonable to live, skip this place completely, unless you like to waste money."
"I lived here for 2 years and enjoyed it aside from living in the very front right off of sunnyview, had to call the cops multiple times due to people trying to break into my apartment and I also had someone come up to my door and pull a knife on me wanting a ride. I think behind the gate is better because people don't really go back there. There is no price differential between those who live in front or behind the gate which I don't think is right. Although anyone can fit their arm through the gate and go back there and people often wait behind cars with key cards to get past the gate. Parking is a pain. I never had any issues until the end. Our rent never went up and we were wanting to renew our lease a 3rd time, but then rent was jacked up $130 dollars. When I tried to talk to Larry he basically said that he could have raised it more, like he was doing a favor "only" raising it $130. We decided to move. It made me very sad for my neighbors too because this complex had a lot of low income families, seniors and people on a fixed income. $130 has a big impact and to not be more sensitive about it was just inconsiderate. They did an inspection before our move out date and didn't even give 24hrs notice (3hrs notice), just called and said they were doing an inspection that day. After the inspection he (not Larry, the younger newer guy. I don't remember his name) told me that everything looked good and I should expect to get half of my deposit back. I never expect to get any money back, especially when renting through Norris and Stevens...but they took my entire deposit plus an additional $150. They charged to have the carpets replaced and for an extermination just because I had pets...they didn't have fleas or anything they said they just automatically do that whenever someone has pets. And they even charged me $20 for the drip pans even though I bought brand new ones and replaced them before we moved out. While I didn't appreciate how things ended when we left, there are pros to the complex too. Their gym is pretty good, they've got a decent sized pool, good area to walk your dogs behind the gate, maintenance issues are dealt with in a timely manner. Pro/con is the apartment doesn't have much storage, but you can rent a decent sized unit on site for $20. There's also a little park for kids."
"I lived here for a year and was treated so great. Always friendly, always responded rapidly to any questions that I had. I never felt that my kids were an issue or a nuisance even when I had my kids decorate the windows with window markers -that took me until fed to wipe away. Move out.....best ever experience. I assumed I was going to get half of my move in cost taken but I was treated beyond fair. Great location. I honestly couldn't have done better. The grounds were always well kept and the garbage was never in piles outside of the dumpsters. Thanks to Janet....she made it feel as if I was staying at a bed and breakfast, always gracious."
"I’ve lived here for a little over 2 years. Management is great and they welcomed me and my husband with a gift basket and card when we first moved in. Quiet place for the most part. I like the fact that it’s gated community and that they have a cute little barbecue every summer and it gets the residents to visit with one another. Janet is super friendly and cares about the people who live in the complex. My electricity went out once over the summer and she literally came out to my apartment and showed me how to reset our electrical box to make our electricity work again. Definitely feel safe here and would recommend."
