"I have driven past this bakery several times over the years, and each time its appearance, seemingly in the middle of nowhere, struck me as unusual and intriguing. Most of the time it was closed, as I only rarely pass through the Satus Pass in the middle of the night, but this time was different. It was open. I had to stop. I had to know. What is this place?! I was delighted to learn that this bakery is associated with a monastery sequestered away in the woods nearby, the existence of which I was utterly unaware. At the time of our visit, it was staffed by robed sisters from said monastery (wouldn't that make it a nunnery? I have no idea how that stuff works...anyway, I digress). Inside, it's quiet, quaint, and stocked with all manner of wonderful things. As we were on a road trip to Leavenworth, and it was early in the morning (well, 11am...whatever! It was breakfast to US, okay?!), our party contented ourselves with coffees, breads and pastries. I had an incredible slice coffee cake, and a box of the best baklava I've ever had was shared amongst us: seriously folks, don't leave without buying at least a half dozen! It's so wonderfully flaky, gooey and delicious, it's almost sacrilegious! In addition to the baked goods, you can also find pre-made Greek entrées in the fridge at the back: everything from spanakopita to Greek lasagna, gyros, hummus, tzatziki, feta (and other cheeses), Greek salad, moussaka, and a bunch of other things I can't remember. Full meals are readily available, so if you're in the mood for the taste of the Mediterranean, everything you could possibly need is right there at the back! And there's more than just edibles here! You can also find candles, soaps, incense, rosaries, icons, books, Bibles, artwork and other Catholic accoutrement fill out the rest of this incredible little shop! It's a sin I didn't stop by here sooner! Hopefully, after confession, a few "Hail Mary's", and buying a box or two of baklava on my next visit, all will be forgiven! And I certainly won't be driving by without stopping in ever again...if they're open when I'm in the area, anyway."
"Just a delightful little stop with some of the best baklava I've ever had! They had other delicious pastries and coffees - every bite was just so yummy! And the workers were so helpful and friendly - we will be back!"
"This bakery makes the best cheesecakes ever. Makes you want to scrape the cupcake paper to get every last bite. I've had every flavor and I've never been disappointed. It's literally like eating heaven."
"Best baklava in my entire life! The coffee was delicious. Prices fair for the great quality. The service sweet and clean bathrooms. Next time I'll plan to stop to eat as they had lots of yummy stuff listed on their menu."
"Need a really good of real coffee or a taste of something freshly baked? This is not a stop you will quickly forget Heard about Fr. Mike’s dedication to producing and roasting some quality coffee so had to seek it out. It was worth the trip from Gresham. The monastic spirit is evident from the moment you walk in the door. Enjoy not only the coffee but treat yourself to some freshly made sandwiches or pastry. And .. take home some of Fr. Miles’s coffee."
