"Do you love your rent going up and nothing getting fixed?"
"We’ve lived at Broadmoor Manor for about 6 years and have been very comfortable so far. Management and maintenance is quick and helpful whenever there’s an issue. The grounds are kept very clean and maintained. This is an old apartment complex from the late 1940s, so if you’ve ever lived in an old building, you’d understand what to expect with plumbing, electricity, and noise. Despite it being an old building, I’ve never had an issue with electricity nor with plumbing. Water is shared with neighbors, so there can be an occasional scare with either extra hot or cold water, lol, but the water pressure is great! The walls and floors are what you’d expect in an old building, so if you have a noisy neighbor, yes - a friendly note or chat might be in order. Again, this is an old building with old windows, so there will be a time where you will need to maintain cleaning the windows b/c moisture does accumulate during the winter months. If the windows are not in good condition though, I have seen management completely replace them - so you have options if concerned about mold issues. Storage is awesome! This complex offers decent square footage per unit too. The grounds are very safe and have very quiet residents/neighbors from my experience here all these years. Not too many young kids around as most of the units cater to 1-2 adults, space-wise. Not too much options for pedestrians to go to except for the grocery/pet store/dry cleaners/banks/and Starbucks down the road, but there are also 2 main bus lines that go into Portland proper that run pretty frequently if you need/want to go into town. There’s also a park with a pool, tennis, and pickle ball courts up the road which is great. Lyft/Uber pickup times in the area run from great to so-so since the pandemic started. Parking spaces are a bit tight but there’s usually a pretty good amount of street parking too. Downsides for us have been the tiny kitchen with the smaller fridge and stove. Understand these choices were made due to space issues but they suck - just being real here. Also, I wish there was an option for a washer and dryer hook up in the bathrooms rather than using the main laundry room area - would have been a better option than the current vanity counter in each bathroom. Hopefully as time goes on, the management company owner will be open to more suggestions and make more housing improvements down the line."
"Iived here for...well, way too long. Original windows, poor temperature moderation, poor ventilation = mold, mold mold. Basement had standing water, sewage leak, and mold. New owners came in and raised rent by hundreds of dollars a month citing "upgrades" which included football stadium lighting in the common areas that kept you up half the night, allowing pets with no weight limit which meant large dogs, lots of barking and lots of dog hair in the washing machines. You can hear your neighbors every move. Higher rents meant all the long-term renters moved out and an onslaught of young folks with roomates moved in. More turnover, less concern for each others neighbors, no community rule enforcement, and pretty limited parking. There were quite a few domestic violence issues, including a murder in unit #16. Water was shut off about once a month because the plumbing was so bad and they chose band-aid fixes instead of spending money solving the problem. Had enough and moved out. They decided to keep a couple hundred dollars of my deposit despite my hiring a professional cleaner. Office staff at Bristol Equity was incredibly unprofessional and accused me of lying when I attemped to regain my deposit."
