"Long, detailed review incoming!!! FIRST AND FOREMOST: if you have pets, or you or your roommates/children are sensitive to sound in any way, then beware: the fire alarm is the loudest I have ever heard and they test regularly, setting off every alarm in the entire building for hours. Words cannot accurately describe how crazy loud it is! -- LOCATION: The location is great, it's right above several restaurants and stores and the MAX station is literally right outside. It's a 1-2 minute walk compared to 3-5 minute walk from other apartments in the area, if that makes a difference to you. -- PRICE: My rent for a 1 bed 1 bath (which was the size of a small studio) was $1,900, and to park in the garage (on the first floor) is an extra $80 a month. Parking on the 2nd is even more expensive. I am now paying the exact same for a 2 bed 2 bath that is 3 times the size, much better, and only 2 minutes walk away. A 1,252sqft. 2 bed 2 bath on the 5th floor at Rowlock is currently $2,820, compared to a 1247sqft. 2 bed 2 bath on the ground level at Nexus nearby is $2,100. -- MOVING: Moving there can be a nightmare; you can reserve the freight elevator and loading dock which is really nice... When we moved in, we had it reserved from 1:00-5:00pm, and when we came back with our final load at 4:25 they had closed the loading dock. We called the office to no avail until finally someone got down there to open it at 4:55 so we had 5 minutes to unload everything from our truck and get it into the hallway near the elevator while the leasing agent stood and watched us, and acted upset when it was their fault for closing it 35 minutes early! All because there was a watch party starting at 5:00. -- AMENITIES: The amenities are great! You can use any of the amenities in either of the 3 properties, and the pool in Rowlock is lovely as well as the gym. There is a common space that has AC that people regularly hung out in to do work on their laptops, so that might be a plus for some people. -- PACKAGES & MAIL: Receiving packages is extremely frustrating, half the time they get brought to your door which is amazing, but the other half they will just vanish either to never be seen again or mysteriously appear at your door days later. They'll say delivered, but are nowhere to be seen. Very strange. Don't have important things delivered here if you can. However, there is a locker service that you might be able to sign up for, it did not work for me or my fiancé (said we already had an account but couldn't access anything, not sure what was up with that). -- EXTRAS: The oven in our unit didn't work (anywhere from 5-30 degrees cooler than it said it was), and the sink would fill with foul water flowing from the garbage disposal every time we ran our dishwasher (from move-in, so nothing to do with us!) You cannot access the stairs from the outside, so you are forced to use the one elevator in the lobby when coming back home, and with 6 floors you can expect to wait for 5 minutes to get into it and go home. If you have a unit on the north side of the building, you will get no natural light. Never had any problems with noise from neighbors, walls & ceilings (at least in our unit) were nice and thick. -- So, not the worst place I've ever lived, but.... I think this place might be good for students who are looking for temporary housing during the school year, assuming those students are loaded and can afford the rent. There are much better, cheaper apartments nearby for people who are looking to stay in the area long term."
"My partner and I were needing to relocate across country to Hillsboro, and I couldn’t ask for a better experience than what we got from Rowlock. Juanita was an absolute pleasure, and helped answers all our questions and was readily available to get us exactly what we needed! In less than a week we were able to get all our leasing documents completed and ready for move in when the time comes!"
"I moved in 2 months ago. My move-in experience was amazing. @Parker helped me with pictures as I was coming from out of state and couldn't see the apt in-person. Great experience so far, the team is very helpful, polite and quickly responds to requests/questions."
"Really nice area, and close to my work. The problem with this apartment is you have loud neighbors who some of them do not respect quiet hours, people blasting their music 24/7, loud and heavy footsteps, security said they will try and fix this issue but they never showed up. You have to knock either on your wall, or the roof to let your neighbors know they are being loud. Overall, the area is nice, clean, and safe."
"My husband and I lived here for a year and we ended up moving. Every week we talk about moving back because it’s such a nice community to live in. Will definitely be moving back next year! If you’re thinking of moving here, do it. It’s worth it. Only complaint would be the unit sizes but you can really do so much with it if you are creative."
