"Increased rent and buckled down on rules. Pay more, do less is not a great business model. They have big open grass fields, you can't let your dogs play in them. If they are doing maintenance on a building, the new management won't be bothered to tell you or apologize when we complain. The new property Manager is confrontational and does not build relationships. Apartments are spacious and the gym is open, so I guess it's worth 1star and not 2."
"We were living in Evanbrook apartments for almost 4 years (plus 6 months in Cornell Manner) before moving to another state. The whole experience from day one to the last day was great. During our stay, staff and managers have changed but we never noticed any changes in the high level of service they provide. You always see activities going on in the complex to make the community better and better. Besides the apartment complex, the neighborhood is lovely. I strongly recommend it!"
"The staff here is great! Thomas and Marison were super helpful and patient with us when we were applying. The maintenance is also great! We had some problems with our stove shutting itself off. Chad came in and took a good through look for us and noticed it wasn't sounding right so he went ahead and not only replaced the burner that was causing the issue but replaced all of them for good measure! He even fixed our sliding door on our balcony because he noticed it wasn't opening properly. I really appreciate him helping out and being such a cool guy!"
"I'm really happy to be leaving Evanbrook. I've lived here for two years and have only stayed this long due to the property being within walking distance from my office. The property manager Felicia is just terrible. She speaks to you as if you're stupid. I really don't know how else to put it. She is patronizing, doesn't want to speak to you if you come in to ask questions, and rushes you out the door, even when you're attempting to sit down and have a conversation regarding important questions you have. I would make an appointment to come in to talk but they don't do that. You just have to roll the dice and walk into the office and hope she's in a good enough mood to let you stay a few minutes to discuss your concerns. You are not a person if you live here. You're essentially a customer and with Carla Properties, the customer is seen as a complainer and an inconvenience. Rent has gone up at least $100.00 every year. Washing machines and dryers are always broke and eat your money. The amenities would be nice if there wasn't always an issue with the fitness equipment being broken, the door to the spa being locked during its open hours and a BBQ grill that actually works. Make sure you get a chance to see the location of the actual apartment you'll be renting as well. I was told there were no open units to view and the floor plans were all I had to go by when I put down my deposit. I was told that the market was so busy that apartments were being rented sight unseen and I believed them simply because I didn't know any better, which I know now is my own fault. I was stuck in a dingy apartment that sits right on the pool deck. The pool has overflowed into my patio 3 times in the two years I've lived here. The pool pump is located right on my patio (which isn't even a patio, it's just an unusable cement slab), which means the maintenance men are in and out of my patio all day long. They'll stand right there at my patio having full on conversations on their cell phones with complete disregard of the fact that I'm sitting in my living room trying to relax and watch tv. Living within close proximity of the pool is terrible because your summers are spent listening to screaming kids right outside your from about 10 am- 9 pm every night. The noise here is terrible. I hear literally EVERYTHING that goes on outside and in the apartment above me. I wish they'd think twice before renting a two bedroom 2nd floor apartment to 5 adults, but they're not concerned with how other residents are effected. I also love the way the garbage trucks come in at 6:30 am. The traffic in the parking lot at the early morning hours sounds like I'm living on the side walk on Burnside. Grounds keeping crews come in early and work until around 6:00 pm, which means non-stop weed whacking and moving. It's constant. I feel so terrible for people living here that do shift work and have to sleep during the day. I don't know how they do it. Personally, I'd rent from a local building owner that takes pride in their property, rather than becoming another cog in this corporate machine's wheel house. Just don't do it."
"Been here for 3 months now and it's been great. Quiet, safe neighborhood and staff is great. Bales and Market of choice are within walking distance along with strip malls 2 minutes away (walking). Bus 62 out front can get you to the station and you can take the train to downtown Portland in about 40 min. Portland University is a 14-25 minute drive depending on traffic."
