Metro West Ambulance

"I work at a pain management clinic in Salem and we had a patient who needed to be picked up at 4pm. At 4:30, no one had shown up for the patient, we called the transportation service and they said the driver was 30 minutes away so we waited until 5pm, still no one had arrived. We called the dispatcher again and he said “The driver is still 30 minutes away” because of traffic. Shouldn’t transportation know better to plan for 4pm traffic?Our clinic closes at 4 so our staff had to stay late to ensure the patient was properly taken care, obviously we are not going to leave them outside on the street. The patient informed me that this is not the first time Metro West has done this to them and they were once made to wait 5 hours in Salem for a ride. Metro West, from my experience, does a poor job when it comes to taking care of their clients. Very unfortunate."

"I called from my work place and asked if my employer was covered and was told my employer did contact with metro and my ride to the hospital wouldn't cost me anything. Turns out they did not have ann agreement with my employe r & refused to address the fact they gave me information that was false & now they are garnishing my wages for over $1000 for a ride in a car to a hospital. This cannot be legal."

"Driver was nice, but showed up an hour late for my pickup to doctors, then waited over an hour for ride back with them saying it would be 1 hour late. Then called after it was 1 hour and 30 min late and they said it was gonna be at least another hour or longer till they came to get me. Dont trust if your needing things done timely."

"My neighbor was having a stroke and it was Metro West who picked my neighbor up. The were rude to her brother didn't tell him where they were taking her and we couldn't find out for hours after that. Their phone was constantly busy so dispatch was of no help. These people are ridiculous. I can see why Washington county wants to contract with another service."

"I just wanted to say that I understand you all are short handed, and where I work we are too (I am a high school teacher)...But please do not be rude/mean on the phone....I would never be rude/mean to my students, just because we are short staffed, as it is not their fault, as it is not my fault either... The lady Janet, or something like that in dispatch, literally made me cry. I called a week ago and spoke to Jason who was super nice, he told me to call the day before my grandpas appointment to get him scheduled. So, that is what I did and the lady Janet answered...She sounded grumpy to start and I was like "hi, I would like to schedule a transport for my grandpa", she said wheel chair or stretcher"? and I replied "wheelchair", she then said "we do not have any transports available at this time", where I said "But, I was told to call the day before for it, when I called last week"? she then responded "we don't have time until 6-8pm", just to clarify I responded with "like 6-8pm this afternoon"? Where she responded in a rude sarcastic tone "YES, THAT IS WHAT PM STANDS FOR POST MERIDIAN TIME". At that point I then asked her "do you have any referrals then", she said no to which I responded while crying "I am sorry, it has just been so difficult to find anyone", at which point I also said "my cousin works for metro west dispatch, I will just ask him if he can think of anyone", to which she started to end the call. I just want you all to know that this was not okay, please do not allow your people to be rude to others, especially when I was being nice. Also when people are calling, they are already vulnerable due to the flawed system, and we are just trying to do our best to help our loved ones. So, any help like referrals is appreciated, since we have no idea who can help when it is out of pocket pay, since almost all transports out there only do Medicaid, which my grandpa does not have. This makes it very very hard to find help for someone in a wheelchair for transport. Believe me, if I could take him I would, since this process with you all has left me feeling like an annoyance and a problem, when I was just trying to help my love one. P.S my cousin did have referrals for transport people to think of, so I am pretty sure she could have had some too, if she would have even tried to take the time to help. Janet deserves 0 stars, Jason and my cousin 4 stars! Those are keepers Metro West, and since you are short handed, maybe Janet could use a refresh on customer service training, since your "about us" statement of care is as follows "Our commitment to community and caring are evidenced in our staff’s expertise, the quality of our services, and the ways we engage with our communities’ causes and events in meaningful ways.". This was a fail today on her behalf."
