"God bless Liz from the central coast ranger station! Yesterday my girlfriend and I got really turned around after hiking a waterfall in the Siuslaw National forest. We got a hold of Liz and she did her best to give us an alternate route. After our first route didn’t work we called the station in Hebo since they were the closest town to our location. That route they recommended would also not work out. By that time we had been turned around due to snow and downed timber. We had to clear roads and backtrack to where we originally remember getting lost. At that point I had remarkably gotten a ping to my phone to satellite GPS our location to the Yamhill County sheriffs office (911). Earlier We had gotten a hold of my father and he was trying to help us figure out what exactly to do since we were losing light and didn’t have enough recovery gear. I’m not sure if it was you Liz that pinged is that link or contacted the sheriffs office but thank you. We stayed out and were able to get ahold of deputy Henderson and his partner ( apologies I missed his name) . Here is the best part of last night though, as we waited at a junction in the pitch black of the forest, we saw two cars peel out of bible creek road down the way, maybe 50 yards or so. They proceeded to take off like bats out of hell in the opposite direction of us! Even though we were honking and flashing out lights They didn’t see us at first! They were on a mission to find us and we had to tail them for about 10 minutes through the first service roads. Once we closed the distances and touched base with them, they took us down out of the forest into Willimania. Thank you all so much!"
"This location is actually where I have my wrecking yard. Not really much to see here but if you've got questions for the rangers they're friendly and helpful"
