"I have had an extremely rough week concerning pregnancy loss. Without going into too much personal detail I had possible medical complications arise and I felt like this clinic was a life raft keeping me afloat during all of it. I am so grateful for them. I have received consistent check ins from nurses by phone during this traumatic time and it just feels so comforting. Everyone I have spoken to has been kind and considerate. Knowing you have a place you can call with urgent concerns when you are experiencing any kind of medical crisis, where you will be respected and listened to is priceless in this day and age."
"I came to Providence Women's Clinic for both my pregnancies. My pregnancy in 2019 was decent with this place. My pregnancy in 2021 was horrible. I am writing this now because after almost 2 years, they decided to add on a visit charge to an already existing and paid bill from 2021. I just received this bill 2/2023! But not in the mail, just happened to look online at a different bill to pay. Please know that even if your insurance says that Providence Women's Clinic is in network YOUR ACTUAL PROVIDER MAY NOT BE. The clinic told me that I could book appointments with any of the providers. They had also checked my insurance so I assumed all were in network. I saw one provider a few times that was not in network and didn't know until almost the end of my pregnancy when they sent the bills out so I stopped using this midwife. But now almost 2 years later, I am not sure who but I assume the office billing/coding decided to tack on a new patient charge for $431. I tried to call the office to speak with someone but they are not taking calls today. My experience with the midwife providers were okay but one lady at the front desk was incredibly pushy and intense. I reported her to the office it was so bad. She hounded me with phone calls on two separate occasions. When they had to change appointments and when I was too busy to call back within the day, she called my husband. He called me immediately because he thought something horrible was happening as the lady refused to say why she needed to speak to me so badly. It was to reschedule an appointment on their end for the next week. NOT IMPORTANT TO SCARE ANYONE. I would NEVER go back to this clinic for anything at this point. Same lady also demanded that I explain to her why I was unavailable to schedule an appointment the following week. I told her it was none of her business and ended up just walking away to call back to speak with someone else. I don't know if she is still there, but it was terrible hiring decision for the clinic."
"I came to this midwife group after a horrifying experience with my first child. While not all of the providers gave 5 star care, Julia Curren certainly did. You rotate through the midwives for your regular appointments and any time I got Julia I could tell she really took the time to listen and provide exceptional care. She checked me for preterm labor when I was having nonstop contractions at 34 weeks. She delivered my baby in what was easily my best labor and delivery experience. She listened to my concerns based on my past experience and agreed on a plan that suited both of us. This was back in 2016 but to this day I cannot thank this woman enough for how safe she made me feel."
"This was 2019 but since I am pregnant again I want to share why I will not return to the Providence midwives, or Providence at all. Everything was fine during the pregnancy. Some midwives were kinder and took the time to talk with you, some had an air of dismissiveness. But the ball was dropped during labor. I called the clinic twice, explained my contractions and symptoms. But since I sounded “so calm” I was told keep laboring at home. She, the midwife on call, really wasn’t trying to figure me out. Again with the dismissive attitude. Well, I gave birth to my baby alone in an empty bathtub. No apologies from the providers. I racked up a $3000 ambulance bill as a result, and when I asked the hospital for help paying their response was “no- these things happen.”"
"I come to the clinic solely for preventative care, but I can say that having Dr. Butler as my MD has been a wonderful experience. Previously I had seen a male OB/GYN who was clearly very old-school. Dr. Butler is extremely down to earth, and has made me feel comfortable and empowered during all my visits. On my first visit to her I told her that I was refusing to get hormonal birth control, and she was the first doctor I'd seen who was willing to work with me to try out the non-hormonal IUD (after disclosing the potential risks). She's wonderful!"
