Carolyn Mcgurl

Carolyn McGurl is a licensed Psychologist located at 6400 Southeast Lake Road in Milwaukie, Oregon. She completed her undergraduate studies at Messiah College and obtained her M.A. and Psy.D. from the Clinical Psychology program at George Fox University. Dr. McGurl has experience working in school systems, the OHSU Neuro Development Clinic, and OHSU Richmond Family Medicine. Her dissertation has been published as a book chapter on the topic of “Video and Filmmaking as Psychotherapy: Research and Practice.”

Dr. McGurl completed her doctoral internship at Philhaven Psychiatric Hospital in Mt. Gretna, Pennsylvania, and specializes in providing individual and family therapy as well as psychological testing for children and adolescents. She has a particular interest in helping young people navigate through grief and assisting families in improving communication and functioning. Dr. McGurl is dedicated to helping parents/caregivers better understand their children and support their growth. She works with youth dealing with depression, anxiety, attention and focus issues, adjustment to life changes, and behavioral concerns.

In her free time, Dr. McGurl enjoys hiking, staying active with FitBit challenges, spending time with her family, visiting the beach, and training for half marathons.
