"Meg always has the health of my family first on her mind every time we see her. Very few medical professionals look straight in your eyes. Very few seem to listen since they already have their response ready. Meg and her team do. The building is quirky which for me is a big plus. CHP is one of the jewels on the Oregon Coast"
"Doctors and staff are actually great, but the billing and coding staff have a racket going on where they charge an exorbitant amount for first-time patients when they don't have to. If you're in a pickle and you just moved to the area and you have to see a doctor you'll be charge full price out of your pocket to pay for your visit and all the tests and procedures associated with it. The reason is they use codes to bill for first-time patients that cannot be sent to insurance company for payment. My insurance company confirmed they have codes that can be covered, but Samaritan would lose around $50 for the visit out of a $600 bill for a new patient. I got stuck paying over $1000, And even after my doctor confirmed that she made a mistake on the verbiage on the chart that caused the bill to be so high, Samaritan Billing Refuses to help you and forwards you to their Corvallis main office, then they bully you into just excepting it. You have to actually put in to have your chart changed (even though it was not your mistake that it was screwed up ), and they tell you upfront that is probably A waste of your time. I gave up. And that's what they wanted me to do. Please get your codes For your appointments from the office prior to your visit, and confirm with your insurance company that everything is paid. I now tried to do this on a future visit, and they're refusing to give me the codes. Actually, I've done this in all the other cities across the United States I have lived before and it has never been an issue, but Samaritan coastal clinic refuses to supply these. This is Unbelievable because that's the process that Providence insurance uses, and for some reason the Samaritan coastal clinic refuses to operate in the best interest of the patient by supplying simple office visit codes. They're actually telling me to ask the doctor at the visit whether certain things are covered or not, and I know she's going to tell me she doesn't know that I should've had this cleared before hand. Truly And unfortunate mess where the patient loses. If you're on a fixed income it can be devastating. So now I'm on the phone again, our after hour trying to get my codes... Unfortunately they're the only show in town and they know it. And My doctor Quality of care that I received from my doctor is so excellent, it's just a shame."
"2/8\15 I was in a major, life changing head on collision. It was the grace of God Almighty that Meg Portwood was the car right behind me. She cut my seatbelt and helped pull me from the burnt wreckage. Hallelujah and Thank you to all the medically trained people and willing people that helped in that situation!"
"As an area local who used this clinic as my primary care office for many years, I can tell you I DO NOT recommend Meg. Her advice seemed outdated and her negligent medical decisions literally almost killed me. The office is dirty and outdated. They used paper charts still the last time I was there. Lol. After my jaunt in ICU (thanks Meg!) I found a wonderful new PCP who is helping me get to the bottom of problems Meg had no idea were even there. I could write a novel. I'll stop there. Just be sure you trust who you are seeing. Your life is on the line."
"These folks are your last defence against the conglomerate medical along the coast. These are the most caring people I have met since doctor Steinke A little off beat but will always do Thier best to find a way to help you and treat you as a person . Love these folks. They also come to Newport do Thier own lab and x-rays and help in every way if you have insurance issues. Diamond in the rough. And omg. Someone griped because they saw welfare patients. Yikes."
