Salem Clinic

"This place is a joke. I had my first child at Salem Hospital in October and my care there was excellent. My prenatal care at Salem Clinic was relatively decent. Dr. Heffner was very busy and my appointments felt rushed, and it seems like they are understaffed. The nurse I saw during some of my appointments, Mori, was by far the best provider I’ve seen at this clinic. She listens, doesn’t interrupt or talk over me, and explains things without being condescending or patronizing like the other doctors that work here. Postpartum care has been absolutely ABYSMAL. They called to check on me once, and I had my six week follow up appointment and that was it. During the phone call and the appointment I expressed I was having very bad postpartum anxiety and they seemed to note that and move on. In January I went to Salem Clinic and Dr. Bastola told me to get into a mental health provider. I had been having horrible racing heart, palpitations, sweats, and panic attacks. My mental health provider ordered a thyroid test and lo and behold, it’s completely out of whack and overactive. I proceeded to have 2 more appointments with Dr. Pathak and Dr. Farnell regarding this issue. They didn’t prescribe me medication for my symptoms for 2 weeks after the first appointment regarding my thyroid tests. Apparently this is common postpartum but it’s been a hell of a fight that ended with an appointment with Farnell, who talked over me, interrupted me, mansplained a condition I’ve had for years that he is not treating me for and he does not specialize in, smirked and came across as extremely condescending. He even admitted he’d only known me 5 minutes. Too bad he spent those 5 minutes on a strange soapbox and ignored and dismissed my concerns about the pain I’m experiencing. Dr. Bastola now is trying to say I have a disease which has the exact opposite symptoms of what I’ve been experiencing. I will not be returning to this clinic which I have been going to for over 25 years."

"I've been trying to get my father a new doctor from this same clinic. I've been trying for two months. I've been told "the providers are not accepting new patients." He is trying to switch from one doctor to another from the same clinic. It would be a transfer, not a new patient. Now, I've left a voice mails to the scheduler, who now won't even return my call. I am a patient here as well. Very disappointed. In the process now, of contacting a higher ranking representative who can assist me."

"Being in the medical field myself(not a doctor), to me patient care, quality and satisfaction are the main factors for any clinic. I have never seen or personally experienced negative care until recently. First few appointments I requested to change providers. I felt provider never listened to my families concerns, request denied. Salem Clinic, spoke with doctor, but no changes made. I should’ve known then. Dr. Pathak, knowing of my medical condition was so easy to push me away, no answers and very unknowledgeable. I wasn’t asking for pain meds, just help to figure out what needs to be done, which specialist needed to help me fully recover. Asked him to see what the specialist I already saw stated, never read notes from my OT or pain specialist regarding additional medical suggestions that’ll help me recover. Got upset after asking what they stated, as if I knew what they said. He should know where to send me and do more testing if not recovering but only answer given to me, who do you want to see, where you think you should go. I haven’t lived here that long but he’s the doctor and should know where to send me. I am not the doctor, you are, do your job and help me. Great to take my private insurance money but not caring for my needs. Patient care was the last thing on his mind. Never again!"

"I visited Salem clinic for my wife a few times now. Their wait time is usually unpredictable even with appointments. They are open only during a certain window in the afternoon (probably the doctor’s schedule). if I plan on going here, I have to take rest of the day off to make this happen We have been seeing a doctor here for about 5 months and I am not really satisfied with their method nor the results. If you require a specialist, better go find another doctor right away, ll save you time and money"
