"Most heartless lack of compassion doctor I've ever met. I would never tell anyone to go here unless they just want their doctor to basically tell them that they're worthless."
"I have been very disappointed with my experience this go around at Women's Healthcare Associates. When I received care in 2021 with my son is was significantly better. This time I feel like I'm just someone they can get money from. I have had MULTIPLE friends tell me that they were told they needed to do a second ultrasound after the anatomy scan due to baby not moving enough, couldn't get good angles of the heart, etc which they also said the same thing to me. When I pushed back more on this I found out the other images they would get wouldn't even make much of a difference with what they already know which everything was looking normal on the anatomy scan. It made no sense for me and my friends to be scheduled another hour anatomy ultrasound for a few images that wouldn't make a difference! I encourage anyone to not just go along with what they say but ask specific questions. Also if you don't schedule a second one based off the providers they will make you feel horrible about it. I have been pushed by schedulers, assistants, midwives to schedule something I already said no multiple times on. Please read the notes in my chart since I have stated not to be asked something I have said no to doing multiple times. But yet they keep bringing it up and that's what the whole appointment ends up being is what I am not doing. Soooo pushy where you feel you can't make your own decisions confidently for you and your child. It's my time, money and my decision but they are so laser focused on having you do all the things that there is no wiggle room whatsoever. It would be nice if there was more focus on the positives of how well my baby is developing, heartbeat, how I'm feeling, etc. My hunch is if you have good insurance they want the money. The other caveat is when they want you to do these follow up appointments there is never any decent openings when you try to schedule something. You have to drive to a different clinic way out of the way or wait weeks. It's exhausting! I'm currently almost 28 weeks pregnant and I am counting down the days to not have to go here for care. It is such a bummer!"
"Love the attention and care I receive from this team - they're always really inviting and thorough. My only (small) gripe: too many front end options on your scheduling phone line... it takes me forever to get to the option for scheduling department after hearing all the other various options. Maybe prioritize your money makers first (new patient appointments)?"
"After a negative experience elsewhere seeking sterilization as a 20-somthing unmarried woman, I am SO happy that I found Women's Healthcare Associates and Dr. Wilson-Smith. I felt validated and supported the whole way. I received absolutely no pushback and was not asked to perform any unnecessary examinations as I had been with another doctor at Portland Providence. The time from first consult to procedure was about 3 months with 1 consultation, 1 pre appointment, and 1 post appointment. The surgery itself was a breeze (in and out by lunch time), and I had absolutely no pain or issues in recovery. Outside of the main procedure the receptionists and nurses were also always kind and created a welcoming atmosphere. I have not hesitated to recommend this team to others seeking affirming care."
"PLEASE seek medical care elsewhere! Never have I been made to feel so discarded, dehumanized and unimportant by a medical practice. This was my first pregnancy and I was a little uneasy by the fact that they will not see you in person until the 12-week appointment, leveraging virtual appoints for the first two months. With it being my first pregnancy, I didn’t know that this was wrong. During the first 2 virtual appointments it felt like I was only half listened to and made to feel stupid for bringing up concerns and how I was feeling. I was seen by 3 different staff members and disrespected by several advise nurses when seeking help and guidance for symptoms I was unsure of. After all the uneasiness I was feeling, I ended up having a miscarriage. One that could have been caught by the second appointment, had they cared enough to see me in person or could have possibly been understood via symptoms one of the several times I called the nurseline. Instead I was inappropriately told of our misfortune by the ultrasound tech at our 12-week appointment then rudely pushed out of the office, in tears. I was encouraged to set an appointment with their in office therapy department only to be told it could take weeks to get an appointment and when given an appointment, I was called to have it rescheduled the day before. Please take the extra time to find a medical group that cares for you at the level you deserve!"
