"I didn’t get a chance to actually stay at this hotel so I can’t speak on the hotel itself. I will however share my experience with booking here. I had a reservation for a room last April, and long story short, I wasn’t able to make it to the coast due to a family emergency. It was very last minute and it was a hectic time and I wasn’t able to call and cancel. Knowing that, I didn’t try to get a refund, not even a partial, I just took the loss. However, I still wanted to stay here so I had talked to the owner (I’m assuming) and I apologized about not making it and said I would still love to come check it out and stay here at a later date. I had asked about getting a discounted rate since I wasn’t able to get a refund for previous booking and was told that would be fine. Again, I didn’t expect a refund for my first booking since I wasn’t able to give proper notice. Anyways, fast forward to March 2024, I call to book a room, talk to the same person on the phone, they pull up my information, but now says they will no longer honor the discounted rate because it was “rude” that I wasn’t able to make it back in April. I was out the $200 dollars the first time, I didn’t ask for the money back. They still got there money for the night for that room, and also didn’t have to pay to have it cleaned or anything. But now I’m rude? It’s just not how I would do business. There’s plenty of other hotels and I will take my business there."
"This place is lovely if you want something quiet away from the crowds of Manzanita, for example. It was just what we wanted. We kayaked on the bay for hours (no extra charge), bird watched from our porch, took a bath in the deep jetted tub, watched a movie with the fireplace on, etc. We also browsed the Wheeler antique mall and got coffee in town. The room was clean. The place and owners were quirky for sure but friendly and we were charmed. New ownership is coming. I will say it did feel a tad overpriced…. a lot of amenities but definitely not luxury. We stayed in #9 and I would stay there again for the price because the view is so lovely but probably wouldn’t want to pay as much as I did for any of the other rooms (maybe besides 7.)"
"Beautiful! The room was super clean upon walking in. The owners were kind and helpful. They let me try their kayak and assisted me on my first try. The rooms provided everything that I needed. I definite return for future vacations."
"One of the first things I confirm when staying at a lodge, hotel or VRBO are the beds. Wheeler at the Bay by far had the best and most comfortable beds! The rooms were so clean and well prepared. There is a lot of time and pride put into the preparation of the rooms. Martha and Gordon are just wonderful and so hospitable! Location is perfect for fishing, crabbing or watching the sunset with a glass of wine! We will be back and we are excited to share with friends and family!"
"This is a hidden gem on the coast. So many great things to say about this place. Firstly, location! The bay is gorgeous and peaceful, the little town of wheeler is charming and quaint. Martha was incredibly organized and helpful, a great communicator and very accommodating when I needed to make last minute changes to our room. The beds were comfy, room was very clean and had lots of little touches, she gave us a basket of goodies to take back to our room, which we enjoyed. She has an adorable dog who greeted us when we arrived. We will definitely be back!"
