The White Heron Lodge

"Loved the hotel. Great views and quiet clean, no problems. Added bonus, had a group of moose walk around the hotel, was quite impressive."

"The white heron was pretty great! We had a few problems, but the staff was able to provide solutions to each one, even mailing me a forgotten item. The contemporary suite had plenty of sleeping space, a well appointed kitchen and a great view off of the deck. The only drawback is that it didn't have AC. Not atypical for Oregon but a little uncomfortable. Good thing there were several fans."

"It's pretty expensive for how dirty they are. We stayed in #604. The laminate floors and cabinets were sticky everywhere and there was a large amount of bacon grease spilled between the stove and the cabinets that made the the place smell overwhelmingly like bacon grease for our 5 day stay, so much so that we had almost all windows open even in the chilly night hours. I had to clean the floor with a soapy paper towel just to pick up dead bugs and food from the last tenant and I gather that the floors either are not mopped or are mopped with the same gross water for all units. There were also a lot of cobwebs and the furniture was fairly dingy. I would save some $ and stay elsewhere. I don't think the carpets were vacuumed well either, our 4 year old daughter had debris stuck all over her knees after kneeling at the coffee table to to play with some toys. Yuck, will probably try another place not managed by The Waves next time."

"This is part of The Waves at Cannon Beach. It is right on the water, the staff is awesome, the accommodations are comfortable. One more comment about the staff. We go here for Valentine's Day and I have them put together a package for me and my fiancee. They always do a great job."

"Early September, the misses and I stayed here (our first time) several nights to celebrate her birthday week. The frugal part of me cringed when making the reservation (over $400/night, ouch!) but I new the misses wouldn't balk at the cost unless the place turned out to be a total bust, besides, this trip was about her, not me. This is one of several properties owned and/or managed by The Waves Cannon Beach. Our one bedroom suite was a second floor riverfront unit which gave us an almost 180 degree vista of the river, beach and hillside condos/homes across the river and also allayed any concerns about being spied upon by passersby during certain indoor activities. It's near the end of a dead end street, also a plus. Being the frugal bastard I am, when I'm paying high dollar for something my expectation levels also automatically elevate to a higher level. After walking in and being greeted with the spectacular vista, I quickly scanned the unit and my eyes started noticing the spider webs, peeling and cracking walls and aging furniture that their website photos neglect to divulge. However, overall, the misses and I had a very pleasant experience and the staff were very attentive and accommodating, even to the point of putting in a recliner at my request because I cannot sleep too long in the prone position due to physical issues. If you have some cash of which you're dying to dispose, by all means give this property a try."
