"I have lived in this neighborhood on NW Naito since 2013, and have frequented this convenience store pretty much weekly for all the things I would rather just pay more to walk a block for (ie toilet paper, ice-cream, wine etc!) than get in the car & travel all the way to Fred Meyer or Safeway for. The old owners were just lovely for the eight plus years they were there. It seems the store is now under new ownership, and my experiences going there since have a been just plain awful. The family that run it now are unfriendly at best, verging on utterly rude at worse. There is a lovely elderly gentleman in the family who sits with a cane on plastic chair in the aisles and he has returned my smile and greeting of hello when I see him. Everyone else that works there has just conpletely blanked me. The older woman with grey hair & glasses I have encountered behind the register is the rudest to me of all. The first time I entered the store after this new family took over, I grabbed my items, walked up to the counter, said hello to her (she flat out ignored this), then just stood at the counter for about a minute and a half with all my items in my arms whilst she continued to ignore me conpletely, put stickers on bottles of wine etc etc. I mean, just utterly ignoring me standing there with ten things loaded up in my arms waiting to pay. She would not speak to me whilst ringing me up, she would not tell me the total amount due, and she did not at any point offer me a bag for all the items I was juggling. It was incredibly rude and passive aggressive. No matter. I've neen wanting to cut down on my "I'm too lazy to drive somewhere to buy it for three bucks less" spending, and this woman solved that predicament for me in two minutes flat. I will not be taking my business here any more. I'll drive the two minutes to Safeway instead. Interestingly, my visits to the store under the previous owners have always involved waiting in line to be served, because it was always very busy with people lining up to buy cigarettes, alcohol etc etc. It used to be a really busy store, because of all the renters at The Yards apartments and condo owners at McCormick etc, plus all the vehicle traffic on Naito. I used to run into my neigbors in the store all the fime. The store has always been pretty muchempty lately, which I can honestly only attribute to the fact everyone else finds the new family that owns it rude as hell too. Either way, Safeway here I come."
"I’m a wheelchair user who was just kicked out of the store with my service dog in training. The cashier “decided” He wasn’t a service dog because he was sniffing the floor. When I explained that he is a young dog in training, and still learning, I was asked to provide identification, that he was a service animal, which is illegal under the American with Disabilities Act. I will be speaking to a lawyer about this incident."
"The people who work at this store including the owner are so friendly, and also I feel heard by them I asked if they could possibly get a product they didn't have and what do you know I asked them can they please get it and they did. Such a great lil market. This is a double thumbs up from me. Considering the area they get allot of people trying to steal stuff and don't worry they can handle it, I've seen people try to rough them up a little and they don't hurt them they just retain them from taking their income they're inventory and then they walk them out the store and do don't come back. They deal with so much theft, or attempted theft it's no telling something bad hadn't happened this far, well it's there awesome attitudes which is probably why they rise above it and keep consistent, because I don't see these folks being kicked outta the store coming back, l know they just raised their prices but it's totally convenient and it saves me from having to walk so far to the store, it's truly the best convenient store I've had the privilege of patronizing. Thanks Jay and I brought song strawberry shortcake OMG he loved it with every bite he was yummy so good, it's awesome to see them embrace the community, and show kindness and humor. I love this lol market."
"Love these guys and their selection is so much better than I would have guessed. This beats a Jackson's,.shell, 7-11, Chevron it Any other gas station/convenience store, anyday!! The staff are always super kind to my indecisive self. Let's start there. And if course the surrounding area has strays with shady intentions so these guys have to constantly remain vigilant towards thieves etc. And they will follow or keep a close look out at times your first few visits. But they are transparent, honest, kind, and genuine about their duties and observations. They have a large and rather eclectic selection of goodies that range from sewing kits and tools to house hold essentials And snacks and food for every occasion, I have a new favorite gummy brand of candy because of them"
"This is not a cheap convenience store for some things. But it is the only one in the yards. It's also ran by a family, and they're really nice people. And for a job like that, it can be tough. Especially when dealing the public of the yards. So even tho I'm sometimes spending an arm and a leg on stuff, I am glad it's a family run store. And not a bunch of random tweakers that operate a 711 or something."
