"Go in between yellow barricades, workers will come out, Get your name, go get your food and bring it out to you. All you have to do is load it in your car. Super simple process!"
"Always sending trash orders to Doordash."
"Safeway WAS my favorite grocery experience, however… I am currently housebound & so depend on delivery services to get my groceries. This Safeway warehouse has less reliable online inventory data than do the stores in & around my SE Portland residence. That’s absurd, given that the usual reason that a store’s inventory data is not up to date is due largely to shoplifting, as well as the number of registers & constant flow of shoppers visiting the stores throughout the day. So, while an understandable occurrence when shopping for pickup orders from a regular store, should not be the case at warehouse locations which are not open to the public & have far more access to real-time data & greater control of their changing inventory! When not applied, it increases the likelihood of one receiving substitutions, which is an IT nightmare for the customer, given that when ordering a substitution for an item consisting of a specific item count or weight etc., there is no option to select the quantity needed (which often means the amount needed isn’t possible & the store also misses an additional sale! For example, earlier today, I placed an 8-count order of Cinnamon rolls w/creamy icing, on sale at $5/box. Then, I selected the 4-count version costing $4/box, assuming I’d receive either two 4-count boxes @$8 or two combined into a larger box at the $5 discounted price (as they do when at the stores) which was more in alignment with the amount & price that I wanted & attempted to order. When shopping in the store, and they were sold out of the item I wanted, they would either add the amount or adjust the cost. (sometimes both) which is good business. But providing a substitute that is only half the amount needed at an increased cost is just idiotic! It only benefits the store (initially…) & wouldn’t have been an issue at all provided there was an option to choose the quantity (Qty.) of the substitutions. Such a simple fix, no? Walmart rarely has these sort of issues with their delivery orders. If & when they do, it gets fixed, in short order! I doubt there’s much you can do competitively about your higher prices, but you are shooting yourselves in the foot with your lame website & glitchy app. That and better vet, train & compensate your warehouse baggers, delivery drivers & service reps (who, by the way, need to start channeling customer needs, recommendations & complaints to those that can affect the needed changes). Perhaps, things would be better, far better really, if you folks just patched up your IT leaks & website glitches & improve the corporative in-house communication (simply delegating isn’t going to do it & I’m guessing there’s a fair amount of that going on.) Hiring an interdepartmental overseer or consultant could have a real impact. If you have one now, then perhaps it’s time to replace them… B/C it really seems the right hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing (too much compartmentalization & piss poor management &/or team work (1-2 small items per bag is just the tip of that iceberg… but you’ve got to start somewhere right?) Honestly, the only reason that I place delivery orders with Safeway these days (& the reason for the 2nd & 3rd star) is your store’s line of products; though I have noticed a downswing there too… which is, perhaps, a consequence of cutbacks in labour &/or manufacture, such as your recent ingredient substitutions, & possible assembly line oversights, or machinery glitches & packaging or bagging issues. I used to love shopping at my local safeway. The well vetted & effectively promoted staff was consistently knowledgable, courteous & helpful. The customer was always ‘right, ie respected. (esp. at the SE 39th & Powell Blvd store in SE Portland!) Sadly the downsizing of the past few years has totally upended that scenario. We’re all having a rough time, both the businesses & their customers, most of which understand & are willing forgive, if not forget, provided you cease to disregard their needs & ignore their complaints & advice, which you do at your own peril! Just sayin…"
"Very interesting place curious to know how do you order from there and if it was really a savings"
"The assistant manager uses her title as a weapon. The baggers have very little training and do a poor job. Only a couple of the employees has decent manners."
