"We discovered this restaurant after seeing an Instagram influencer’s post about winning the seafood chowder festival. Despite a mixed wait time estimate from the hostess, we decided to stay. The menu impressed us with chef specials. The oyster shooters were outstanding, and the fish and chips delighted my daughter. My crab boil was one of the best meals I’ve had this year. Despite the initial wait, it was a great experience, and we’ll definitely return. Thank you!"
"I had really hoped to enjoy this place but felt really underwhelmed and disappointed. My husband and I went for our anniversary, deciding to splurge a little and try out Local Ocean rather than one of the more casual spots in the hope that it would be a little more special. I wish we had gone somewhere else. The whole experience, from the wait staff to the food, was really lackluster. My cocktail was bland and lacked any exciting flavor or inspiration. I held out hope for the food, but was so disappointed. The garlic crab soup tasted like something from a can. The 'big plate' of fish and chips consisted of a single medium sized piece of fish on an ungenerous bed of fries, completely bland slaw, with the fish itself being flavorless and coated in a very unexciting layer of panko. It was honestly pretty dang disappointing considering how much we paid and knowing that we could have gone to a dozen other places and gotten much better food and service that was warm and friendly. The whole experience felt like eating in an airport: sterile, lacking flavor, overpriced, and with bare minimum effort from the staff. On that note, the 20% mandatory tip felt pretty bold considering our waiter not only showed us zero hospitality or friendliness when we sat down to order, but also never checked up on us. In the end we felt we had to go to another restaurant to make up for the sad food and service at Local Ocean. I strongly recommend going elsewhere for a nice meal. Really bummed."
"Amazing! You are right on the harbor, along side the boats who caught your food. It is boat to table instead of farm to table! It is farther down the sidewalk so parking is more plentiful, and you can have a perfect leisurely stroll to walk off your food! The fish tacos are amazing! The fish wrap is another great choice!"
"The tasting menu was fun! Everything came out super fast, and the servers were friendly and on top of everything. I probably personally wouldn’t choose to include two similar dishes on a tasting menu (ie. two salads), but nonetheless they were delicious. Everything was! Having a soup as the “main” part of the menu, again, wouldn’t have been my first choice.. but we wanted to give it a shot. It was pretty good, but not the star of the show. We really appreciated the use of local ingredients such as the chanterelles and rockfish too. I sometimes worry with some tasting menus that I won’t leave full, but I definitely did with this one. One thing to note is that 20% gratuity is included at the end of your meal. Have no problem with this as the food and service was great, but I personally missed the head’s up on this somehow, so I just want to give people notice. Response to owner: I would consider maybe adding the notice to the smaller chef’s tasting menu itself too (unless it was on there and I was just too excited about the meal to notice). :)"
"Great atmosphere, sitting at the window with a sunset over the harbor. Friendly, attentive service. Food was a mixed bag. Oyster shooter: oyster was great, fresh and plumb. Cocktail sauce too thick, wouldn't come out of the glass. Crab chowder just luke warm, bland. The smoked salmon in the smoked salmon salad way too salty. Tuna dish was great. Fish stew was the highlight of the evening, great flavor and loaded with fish and shellfish."
