Grand Central Bakery - Hillsboro cafe

"The bread and pastries? Amazing. The prices are pretty high, but the food quality is quite high too. I think my pallet is use to less protein, the chicken salad was almost *too* chicken. I wanted more of the mix ins with it but that's personal preference. 14 dollars for a chicken salad sandwich though. That's steep. Even the salmon was only 13. I am just not sure how the price is justified. The pull apart bread was delicious and gooey though. The server was so kind. They even refilled my ice tea. Was comforting to seen a Pride flag by the front counter."

"Nice atmosphere. Ordered a vegetable quiche and a mocha. The mocha was okay at best. The quiche was “vegetable”, but the only veggies in there were whole cherry tomatoes. Yuck. Not even cut up. The inside was entirely cold and I don’t normally complain but I did bring it back to the register and asked if they wouldn’t mind heating it up in their microwave. No microwave. She said, “Well, it should be warm because they sit on a heater”. I told her that yes, the warm part was the bottom, which was on the heater but the inside was cold. She offered me another one. Um, no, I don’t want another cold quiche. No offers of a refund. No offers of any other pastry. Update- they were kind enough to reply. They sent me a link to their website. Not planning on complaining there. For what reason? Anyway, just try to make sure your warmer warms through and not just the bottom."

"The first thing that I always take note is the customer service and this place didn’t have it. My wife and I were rushed twice. We weren’t greeted as we came in but everyone else that came in after us was greeted. I don’t like to say it’s because we were the only brown folks in there but everyone else got greeted with a smile and we only got the bare minimum. They didn’t have white chocolate mocha but that’s a me thing for not liking the coffee choices so far. The menu says what each item is but doesn’t show what is in the meal. If we have any allergies how will we know what to remove or sub for? The food was okay, we paid 33$ for a breakfast croissant, mocha, tuna melt and a juice from the fridge. Worth the price ? Not really but things are getting expensive anyways. Will I come here again ? I don’t think so. Disappointed that this was the experience I got the first time we came."

"I was really excited about having a bakery in downtown Hillsboro. Unfortunately, I was let down by their lack of anything healthy, including the bread. No breads with nuts or seeds, no Rye or Multigrain. I will say their smashed pea toast on whole wheat was pretty good. I'm sure the sweets and pastries are delicious too. I would still love to see a zucchini carrot muffin or multigrain croissant. Bakeries can be healthy too!"

"I'm so excited for this new bakery in downtown Hillsboro! There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating with 17 picnic benches outside, both covered and uncovered. They have a great variety of breakfast items, available until noon. All their sandwiches can be turned into salads as a bread-free option! They have a wide selection of pastries and desserts. They have lots of beautiful hard-crusted bread loaves!"
