Reviews
"I deleted my original review after going through the adoption process and am starting over with a new one. We couldn't go into the facility to pick up the puppy because of social distancing restrictions so the first time we met her was outside the building- a little scary but she was adorable and well cared for and our fears disappeared when we saw her. The woman who helped us was kind and she clearly loves the animals and her job. Thank you for helping Birdie find her furever home. 3 years later...I'm adding a photo of Birdie Mae grown up but always precious. We're up north now but we're still a team. Thanks to the shelter for giving me a healthy four legged friend. She is adored."
"I adopted a sweet female Kitten from St. Charles Parish Animal Shelter and she is the PERFECT kitten, even though she was a feral kitten, she is VERY social, friendly, cuddly, and energetic. The staff really cares about the work they do, they answered all my questions and were professional and caring! Will adopt from them in the future!"
"I’ve never adopted from here but I’ve volunteered here numerous times and I enjoyed it. As all animal shelter I wish for larger spaces for the animals but they are all taken care of with much love and care. They are welcoming with volunteers as they are short on employees, I was able to walk, feed, wash them, and play with the animals. It’s also very clean, I only wish for their facility to be bigger to better accommodate the animals."
"I haven't adopted a pet from this location, however, I have volunteered and I've only seen the animals being cared for and treated well. The facility is still new, but maintained and sanitary. Most animals are excited to see people and want attention so I really don't believe the prior reviews about pets being skiddish after recovered from this shelter."
"So I decided to take a 1 hour and 30 min drive to St. Charles Spca only to be told that I could not see any of there dogs. My sister and I wanted to check out some puppy American bullies that we heard were there by a friend. When we arrived Kelly the staff member asked us what type of dogs we wanted to see and my sister said small. Kelly then stated that all of their small dogs were out at their foster parents house. I then stated that I would like to c the big dogs, Kelly told me that I could not walk to the back due to construction. I then asked her about the puppies they had, she gave me the run around once again and said they all under court order that I had to fill out a application to even see them. This incident really rubbed us the wrong way and felt it was due to us being African American. I will never go here again, she was very rude, and I'm at Delgado Vet Tech Student class of 2018 and I was very offended and I could definitely tell that she was lying. My husband even called after I explained that she gave us the run around and she told him, that all the puppies looked a like and that she did not feel like going get all the puppies for me to see. Absolute worst place ever."
