"I don’t usually review but felt like it was necessary today! We’ve been going to Dowlen Road Vet for a little over a year and most the time it’s just typical vet experience. Today was our yearly check up with one dog who is extremely timid and the other who has extreme anxiety about being in public and whines loudly the entire time(annoying and embarrassing lol) we’ve been working on that of course but today he didn’t completely embarrass us and Kristen made him feel so comfortable at the vet. He only whined about 10% of the time versus 95% of his last visit. I was super impressed with not only my dog but the staff that handles my two brats. Extremely thankful for where we bring our boys!"
"I can not say enough good about Dr. Hurych, Dr. Brown, & staff! I have been with Dowlen Road Veterinary Center for over 9 years. My dogs and puppies are always greeted with such care. A forever client! - Aubergine Goldens"
"We rescued a severely neglected Gecko off Facebook who was blind, half dead from starvation and a bad leg infection. We were able to get an appt in fast to see a vet and Dr Hurych let us know our new Gecko friend was in bad shape and didn’t have great survival chances, but still gave us meds and recommendations to try and help him. We went back every other week for a few weeks, surprising the vet and staff each time that our Gecko was still alive and kicking! In the end, our Gecko (now named Gerard) had a couple of surgeries by Dr Hurych and recovered 100%. Gerard the Gecko is now fat and sassy, can SEE and is super happy living his best life with us. We are very grateful for the amazing care he received at this clinic!"
"The veterinarian himself was excellent, providing great care for my cat. However, I had a disappointing experience with the staff who were very rude and abrupt when speaking to me and my fiancé about my cat. My cat required a 7-day medication for his discomfort, but when I requested a refill of the prescription, the staff informed me that I needed to have an appointment, which was scheduled two weeks away. They refused to provide the prescription without an appointment and the only alternative was to book an emergency appointment, which came with a $75 fee. This situation left me feeling quite disappointed."
"While not all of my experiences with this office have been bad, my most recent one has scarred me for life. My work schedule keeps me insanely busy but fortunately, my mother in law steps in to help with our dog Lilly’s appointments. My MIL brought her in for an appointment we had to wait a week for and turns out she had an aural hematoma on her ear. We know nothing about what this means. The diagnosis was given with very little information about what it means and what our options are. Turns out, the recommendation was surgery. The very next day. After spending $1,350 on the entire process, visit, surgery, etc., they released Lilly home with no guidance on how to manage or treat her post-op. They gave us a head wrap that we were told to leave on 24/7 and charged for pain medicine that they didn’t even provide to us! Had it not been for my MIL asking questions, we would have been told little to nothing about what to do to prevent infection and keep her comfortable. Even then, neither of those things were properly addressed. She was sent home with oozing, open wounds and in immense pain and discomfort, couldn’t sleep or eat or drink water. It was heart breaking. The picture captures the aftermath of the procedure. We called the vet to discuss the matter and were told it was going to be a “tough” process. Luckily, our family members use another vet in the area that they love so we brought Lilly in for an evaluation and they got her medications and bandages to help with managing all of her ailments. I feel like the main intent of this office is to know what you’re willing to spend and take you for every penny of that and more. Hence their “how much are you willing to spend” question they ask at every check in where they then ask you to sign in agreement. I’ve never left spending less than what I was comfortable with. The staff is very nice and have accommodated me being late to retrieve my pet because of work conflicts. I’m grateful for their hospitality. But the condition I came home to my dog in after her surgery completely broke my heart. I’m still weary of whether the surgery was her best option just given how terrible the recovery is on her. They did not offer any support or comfort in that for me or my family and it does not sit well with me. We will be utilizing another vet for our dog and cats moving forward. I won’t even get into the fact her ear infection treatments have never worked or helped per their guidance. Which is what caused the aural hematoma in the first place."
