"i would give zero stars if i could. if you care about the well-being of your animals, seek out the care of professionals."
"I have brought 2 cats there to be fixed so far. They have been very nice & very helpful."
"I am not typically one to blast my negative experiences or opinions online. However, I want my experience heard and known throughout the community. I took my one year old labradoodle to McGowan Veterinary Hospital this morning to get neutered. All was well (or so I thought) until pick up time around 4:40 Pm. Upon arrival, I was informed that my dog “had been a bad boy and licked his stitches and was bleeding a little bit”. They reassured me that all was fine and that they had given him a vitamin K shot to help him and he would be ready to go home shortly. Roughly 20 minutes later they bring him out from the back with a bandage and a cone. I noticed a couple drops of blood dripping from him and I asked if that should be bleeding the way it was. Again, I was told everything was fine. Once I picked him up and put him in my car I noticed he was bleeding through his bandage. I started my car and looked closer at him and there was a pool of blood in my car seat. I immediately called back inside and requested that the vets take him back because the level of bleeding was noticeably dangerous to his wellbeing. I was then told that he must have a blood clotting issue and they took him back to surgery. I was so wrapped up in his wellbeing that it didn’t dawn on me until that moment that they said he had been licking himself after surgery. I politely asked why he was not given a cone before he woke up and how was he capable of causing that much damage to himself before anyone decided to send him home. I was told that “it is not standard practice to put a cone on a dog after neuter surgery”. I told her that is bull***. I was then told that I declined a cone. I was not asked today at drop off about a cone nor at pick up. Nor was I given any after care instructions for him once I got him home. I asked why they attempted to send him home still hemorrhaging the way he was. Dr. McGowan said “I didn’t know he was bleeding like that but we’re taking care of it now”. They took him back into surgery and repaired the bleeding. When Dr. McGowan came back out of surgery she did not come speak to me. Nobody did. I walked into the exam room she was sitting on a laptop at and I asked her if it was safe to take him home with the bleeding he’s had. She stated he had to go home because they don’t keep dogs overnight, they don’t staff for that. So apparently it’s better to send a bleeding dog home than monitor him long enough to make sure it is safe for him to return home. Dr. McGowan yelled at me and stated that she could call for an emergency transport to send him to the emergency vets office at my cost if that is preferable. I told her if it was necessary she could do so but it would be at her expense for not maintaining a proper level of care for my dog. A vet tech had to come help me with cleaning supplies to clean the puddle of blood out of my car. Vets are supposed to be there to care for your pets and advocate for them to be healthy and happy. Instead she would rather take my money and send him home to bleed out. I had to fight her to take proper and STANDARD care of my pet. Needless to say, she has lost my business for eternity. I will be finding a new vet to remove his staples and examine him to ensure her butchery didn’t damage him."
"All of the staff was nice and loved my dog besides the actual vet. She was cold and expressed verbally and physically that she was annoyed because my dog freaked out when she had to draw blood. All the money spent was for pretty much nothing because I got no answer to what was causing the issues my dog was having."
"WoW! I'm so impressed with this office! My first time here and I must say a very pleasant experience! Welcoming atmosphere and greeted with a smile! You do not find that every day! The office was clean as well. Dr. McGowan and her Assistant are just as sweet as can be and genuinely care about your pet. I will return for any of my pet's needs. Thank you so much for all you do for our fur babies and you both are greatly appreciated ❤️"
