"The tour was very disappointing and we were left hungry. First, our tour guide, I think her name was Susan was friendly but very disorganized. We didn't actually leave from the church until 30 min after because she could not count the people and she could not take control of the group. Throughout the rest of the tour, she was friendly and did fine. Next, the food choices were fine and the locations were fine but the amount of food very bad. The sandwich portions were extremely small and we anticipated more food to actually fill us up. We were wrong for thinking this would be an event where we would get enough food. The next location we received a small cup of gumbo which tasted good but left so much to be desired. We were encouraged to spend more money on drinks which seems like we were almost required to drink to pay more money to the restaurant. Then, the candy shop almost closed because we were so late because of our guide having us leave so late from the beginning. We didn't even get to go into the shop to see anything and felt pointless. The last place with the gator bites was such a small portion that we were left having to go get dinner after this. 2 bites of alligator and a tiny cup of grits is just not enough. Overall the experience was not worth the $90 we paid. I would not even pay $45 for the tour. This was just a bad event and we are very disappointed."
"I picked this tour, because I love to walk through cities, if possible. And because it has this combination of history and yummie food. We walked through the French Quarter, getting all the important info about New Orleans, how it was founded and who did what during the years of French ans Spanish regency. We tasted the local specialties, PoBoys, Gumbo, Jambalaya and Pralines. Delight. Although I don't eat meat anymore (and that was my answer to the question ahead, if we followed a special diet.. But this exception could not be met at that time), I tried the food anyway. Our guide Suzanne Stone answered all our questions, had a very good way to present why the foods names are as they are and she knew a lot. I can totally recommend this tour, bc you see a lot and eat and can sit down inbetween, if you are not a fan of walking. Thanks for that experience."
"Awesome tour! Lyndel had such an impressive knowledge of everything New Orleans, both recent and historical. She was able to answer literally every question the group came up with and always made the answers interesting and informative. The food was also great with a good variety of New Orleans staples that tied together nicely with New Orleans' rich history."
"Roger is a gem for Tastebud Tours! Not only will he take you to great places to taste staple foods from New Orleans, he will also give you ample historic background of the city (when/how it was founded, the architecture, important people, meanings of words, etc). He used to be a school teacher, so he has a knack for storytelling. Do make sure to stay close to him because it gets noisy in the streets (or the company should get him a voice amplifier). The tour in general started on time at the meeting point and took us through different streets and three different restaurants plus a dessert shop. We never had to wait long for our food and we kept a decent pace, but we were never rushed. Every place offered water for free, and the option to pay for additional drinks if you want. Tastebud Tours also partners with these establishments so you can revisit them and get 10% off of your purchase. We really enjoyed our time on the food walking tour and we definitely had enough to eat after all our stops. We greatly appreciate all the additional info we received about the city as well. PS: A small tip for the owner, if he reads the review this far... Please do not let your personal friend who comes on the tour with you try to upstage your guide constantly. It's not only annoying for the guide, but also for the rest of the group."
"During my bachelor party in New Orleans, we decided to attend Tastebud Tours' Cocktail/Prohibition tour. It ended up being possibly our favorite experience of the whole weekend with multiple friends of mine now wanting to take their significant others on the same tour when they come back to NOLA. Our tour guide, Suzette, was a wealth of knowledge on all New Orleans history and the drinks themselves at each of the unique places we went to. We had an absolute blast and I really cannot recommend the tour enough."
